    PMS local interview or Skype?

My son had a similar situation last year, where the local options for interview were limited, and he didn't hear back from his "first choice" for the interview. He ended up doing 1 in person interview at a school he did not plan to attend (Yale), and 1 skype interview (one for Army, one for...

    Scholarship concerns after PFT

Thank you - that pretty much confirms what we thought was the case. Of course, we will wait until he can check with his ROO once he is back to confirm, but at least we have an idea of what to expect.

    Scholarship concerns after PFT

Thank you. Yes, I was referring to the APFT, still getting my terms correct! (He was NJROTC in high school, and this is all new to me!) He has said he can retest in November, if not sooner, so hoping this was the only wake up call he needs, and he will be back on track soon. If needed, we are...

    Scholarship concerns after PFT

So, after many discussions and some well intentioned but inefficient preparation for his PFT, my son did not pass (36 sec over on the run). He is a 4 yr scholarship winner and we are unclear as to what needs to be done regarding his tuition for this semester? Unfortunately, his Scholarship and...

    Decision Day Deadline

Yes! Much closer than I would like! DS made a phone call to Cadet Command which is what got it all wrapped up, so if anyone else is in a similar situation, definitely call. They were very helpful, and approved the transfer within an hour once everything was double checked.

    Decision Day Deadline

Whew! The transfer has been approved! DS will be able to commit to University of Pittsburgh and join the AROTC program there. Thanks for the help, and glad it didn't come down to the wire.

    Mother’s Day NROTC Gift Ideas

For our NJROTC unit, we gave our Booster club president a beautiful and very simple necklace with a small sideways anchor, from ETSY. Very small and delicate if that is what you are looking for. I will attach the link below, but there are tons of different ones on there. Just search "anchor...

    ROTC 2024 timing

Your DS sounds like an amazing kid, and you should be very proud whether he wins a scholarship or not! (I am sure you are!) If it helps at all, my DS was awarded both AROTC and NROTC scholarships this year. His GPA and ACT scores are a bit lower than your DS (ACT-32, not sure of exact GPA), 3...

    Decision Day Deadline

I was totally prepared to do that, but I read that it was unethical to do so, and could even jeopardize the scholarship! If that is not the case, it would be much easier to pay twice!

    Decision Day Deadline

We are getting a bit nervous as "Decision Day" approaches. DS accepted an AROTC scholarship to what we thought was his first choice school. After several visits, he has decided that his first choice has changed, but this all just happened last week after squeezing in some last minute visits...

Switch ROTC Scholarship to a different school

How long does it take to switch an AROTC scholarship from one school to another? Is it likely that the switch will be granted? DS has all but settled on a great school with a strong ROTC program, but it was not on his list for the scholarship. My guess was he should start the process through...

    SMC or ROTC program?

Thank you AROTC-dad - That is exactly the decision we are facing. Totally his choice, but he is asking for our advice. We (parents) feel like he would benefit greatly from the structure. He is leaning toward the "regular" college. Neither is a bad choice, and glad to hear it worked out well...

    Pitt AROTC

DS is coming down to the wire to make his decisions. Does anyone have any info or feedback on the AROTC at Pitt? It's a great thing to have choices, but it's not easy! Trying to help him out with any info we can gather. Thanks!

    SMC or ROTC program?

Can anyone give advice on the pros/cons of attending a senior military college vs. a more traditional ROTC program at another university? DS is deciding between 2 great schools, both similar academic standings for engineering. He can see the obvious differences between the daily life in the...

    School Awards Ceremony

At my son's HS, they usually issue large checks to the cadets who have earned scholarships, but I think the NJROTC Instructor presents them. I believe that the army or navy (or whatever military branch) supplies the checks.

    NROTC Navy Results

My son also just informed me that he is NROTC 4-year Scholarship winner! He has already accepted an AROTC Scholarship, so now has some great choices to make. Does it make sense to accept both scholarships until he is done with the DODMERB process, even if he is leaning toward one or the other...

"No Decision has been made on your application"

DS' NJROTC instructor told him that there is a Navy board this week (2/11/19), decisions to follow in the next few weeks. His status also states "no decision has been made", but he also received an email saying that he is a strong applicant, and so they have started the DODMERB process. Not a...

    Question about NROTC scholarship status

Thank you! He was recommended for ISR, but was not selected, so now its my understanding he is in the regular pool for the national board. Congratulations on your scholarship!

    Question about NROTC scholarship status

I noticed a change on my DS' NROTC scholarship status page - it went from a small maybe half page status update to a larger one listing his schools, etc. Near the top it states: The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application. Missing Items All required items have been...
