That's a shame...honestly, how can a school district in the United States of America, at an awards ceremony honoring seniors and their academic accomplishments regarding scholarships, not allow a ROTC/AFROTC/NROTC presentation is disgraceful.
Yes, she will still be able to commission as a 2LT as long as she completes Advanced Camp among her other ROTC responsibilities. Her accessions packet will either go to the Reserve component (Reserves or NG) and will wait for her assigned BOLC date assigned by her state (NG) or by Big Army...
If you were going into say...chemical engineering or petrol, I'd seriously consider TX A&M for that with the benefit of it being a SMC. Just a plug from an Ag, though.
My son was given the ECP scholarship (Ike Skelton) from the first board. He has wanted to go to a military school since he was little. SAT/ACT scores not high enough for SA's and chose to fill in for the ECP on the ROTC app. By doing so, it took him out of the running for the later boards...
That's an interesting question. My son got one from the 1st board and spoke to VF about it and they offered him one of their ECP slots (kinda like a battalion scholarship) so to allow him to stay in the running for a 3-4 year offer, he just had to reject the Ike Skelton (National offer) for the...
Our family is in the same boat....its 3rd board, Hip pocket, or Enlistment. I understand, it can be frustrating, worrisome, and quite scary. As a parent, I see how hard my son has worked and studied, but it is still out of his (and mine) control.
For those of you who didn't win a scholarship this board (my son included) know that each winner has the opportunity to not take the offer and many applied to multiple branches of ROTC. Keep working hard and talk to each school that you are thinking about going to and let them know you would...
For those waiting on their portal responses, after the "under review" is posted it only took 3 days for confirmation of either being qualified or not-qualified.
I must admit, it was faster than I had thought but longer than I would have liked. Seems about normal with the military though.
1 Ask them about their (personal) experience with their branch
2. Ask about their unit branching and accessions
3. Ask them if they were a part of an ROTC unit in college
4. Especially, if your interview is with a PMS of a school you are looking for, ask about how their cadets have performed at...
One of the considerations of the board process regarding schools primarily are those applicants who request MJC's or Historically Black Colleges. If offered scholarships to these institutions, the scholarship can only be applied to them.
I'm sure the amount of applications will be smaller for this board....what will take longer will sorting the new apps into the already boarded applicants in the OML for the 3/4 year scholarship offers.
The earlier board had announcements out in about 10 days after the conclusion of the board...
anymore info, or are you still waiting?
my son went to his tests on 12-12-18 through Concorde...status is showing COMPLETE but nothing else.
It says that it would change to pending once they have sent it to DODMERB, but he keeps checking on the DODMERB site and nothing but crickets....
All...
