    West Point #2 / USNA #1?

All great advice so far. No one has mentioned the possibility of cross commissioning upon graduation. It's my understanding that could be an option. If you wound up at West Point, but still ultimately wanted a post-grad career in the Navy, you may be able to cross commission.

My HS Class Load is too intense... what do I drop?

My two oldest sons took AP U.S. History during their sophomore year of high school and my youngest son is taking it now as a sophomore. It is a class with a huge volume of reading, writing, and memorization. Great class, but a massive amount of work. That being said, my son who is currently at...

    Postcards?

Our son wrote us a letter almost everyday of BCT and we wrote him one as well. Before BCT he was not a letter writer and since BCT he hasn't written a letter either. He liked writing each night during BCT to recap what went on during the days and I have saved all of his letters. When he came...

Any other candidates having issues securing a gym facility for the CFA?

Drive around and check out different sites where the CFA could be administered in your area. My son did his 100% outside at his former middle school which had a pull up bar and artificial turf football field and track. His high school gym teacher drove over during the school day and administered...

    Age

My son is at the Academy now and he is still 17 years old. He is one of the youngest that he has met so far in his class, but he's dealt with that his entire school career. Go for it!

    Proof of Candidacy

You should receive an official letter in your USAFA portal that congratulates you on becoming a candidate for admission. I would think sending a copy of that letter into your Senator would suffice. Good Luck!

    AP Exams

My son took 13 AP classes during high school. He did not submit exam scores for any of them to any university, ROTC High School Scholarship applications, Academies, or with Nomination applications. Personally, I don't think the exam scores count for much, if anything. The rigor of the high...

    Business Major AFROTC Scholarship?

It is more difficult, but I believe less high school students apply as a business major thinking they have to apply for a STEM major in order to be competitive for an AFROTC scholarship. My advice would be to make sure you are well rounded with leadership roles, athletics, community service...

    Immunizations during the pandemic

My son called his former pediatrician whom he hadn't seen since 2015 and they told him to come on in. They are open for well visits only (newborns still need vaccines even during a pandemic). He had all of his immunizations including polio this past Friday. Maybe try that option?

    Elevation acclimation prior to I-Day

A few days to a week early may help a little bit, but for full physical exertion, I would say you need close to 6 weeks to feel really good exercising at elevation. This is from someone who moved to CO from NYC and has lived at 8,000 ft elevation for the past 11 years. Youth is on the side of...

USAFA Class of 2024 Appointment Thread

Congratulations to all who received appointments thus far! Holding out hope for our state which I don't see represented yet. Fingers, toes, and everything else crossed at this point for my kiddo! Plan B is in place, but an Appointment would be a 10 year dream come true!

    USMA Founders Day Dinner

My son received the invitation a few weeks ago. The subject line read: 1 of 226 Invitation to Attend the West Point Founders Day Dinner for Free! So, we took that as if the invitation went to 226 potential candidates. My son received the TWE on his portal and in the mail the last week of February.

    CFA Introduction Video

I know what you are talking about. The instructions made it appear as if it was actually three separate videos. An introduction video, push-up video, and pull-up video. My son did what you did and wound up uploading his intro video as a second pull-up or push-up video. It must have worked...
