NROTC - VA Tech, Penn State, or University of Washington

PSU was DS's #1 choice until we visited the battalion. In his mind, the NROTC program was a little less "Navy" than Villanova, which is now his #1. This could be a positive for a young person looking for a more laid back ROTC program. DS was looking for an all-Navy-all the time program and...

ROTC Scholarships basis for appealing school decisions?

DS is in a similar boat with his #1 school. He spoke to the battalion and they said to call back when he has the NROTC scholarship in hand and they might be able to do something for him. Good luck.

    120 Self-Reported Appointments... Almost Full?

We are working hard to concentrate on the following. Every day with no TWE is a day DS is still in it. Solid plan B and plan C is in place and plans for the Summer are being formulated based on that. It is hard on these kids, though. At this point, all of the ones still in it are truly...

Slightly lower grades spring semester Senior year

DS is in a similar situation, although no appointment yet. Waiting.... I see it as a good thing that AP Calc and AP Chemistry are kicking his butt. Like many of these talented young people, it always came easy to him. These classes are the real deal and it is his first taste of working hard...

    Transfer to USNA

To the OP: DS's plan C (A is USNA, B is NROTC) is to attend a university on academic scholarship that does not offer NROTC. They do offer AROTC and if he attends, he will certainly join as a programmer. His thinking is that the Army is still military and the cadets will be like-minded...

Waiters ....this thread is for you

NROTC at the University of Pittsburgh, Engineering. If DS doesn't get the NROTC scholarship, he has already been offered a 50% academic Dean's scholarship. It won't be long now. And remember, every day CPR is a day with no TWE!

    USNA TWE

Nice post. You are obviously a young person with the kind of character that we need in the US Navy. Keep on it, and keep us posted! Good luck.

    NROTC February Board Decisions

Nothing here. According to the folks who have been through this, it seems like there is a lot of activity in April. Hang in there, and good luck.

    USNA Application Question

Same here. It was for the CFA, but DS's test instructor had to use a gmail account to be able to receive anything from USNA

USNA Class of 2023 Do-It-Yourself Appointment Thread

I was cruising last year's self-appointment thread and found something you good folks may be interested in. Last year, there were lots of appointments on 1/18, 2/18, and 3/18. This year, it looks like 1/19 was a big day, so it is possible that there will be a lot of appointments on 2/19 and...

USNA Class of 2023 Do-It-Yourself Appointment Thread

Just got back from dropping DS off at USNA for the same CVW. I hope they have a great time.

Take a break from checking portals?

For those veterans of this process, do you think it is a good idea for DS to take a break from checking portals during the holiday week? I figure that the MOC and admissions personnel will likely not be working until after New Years. Also, he could use a break from the daily checking. I...

    NROTC Question

DS signed them at the enlisted recruiting office. His officer interview was over the phone. They had to get the Chief involved because the other guys didn't know what to do. The Chief knew exactly what to do and it only took 5 minutes. He has also been a great resource for DS as questions...

    ROTC Process ?

DS spoke to his NROTC contact today. For those interested, the next boards are 12/10 and 12/14 for NROTC.
