    CFA Scores

I’ve heard from a number of people who have worked in admissions at USNA that in most situations, a passed CFA is a passed CFA, regardless of scores. That being said, if you already took another one, it’s definitely worth passing it up through admissions which you already have. Great job on the...

    Another mid answering questions!

The hardest aspect of Academy life in general to adjust to is living in a world where you are constantly being evaluated. Everything you do is watched, scored, and recorded in some way or another, and this puts a lot of pressure on you to succeed. The PRT, PE classes, Academics, sports teams...

    Another mid answering questions!

Hi! I’m sure this has happened before, but I would be willing to bet it’s quite a rare occurrence. From what I understand, there are people who get waitlisted, and only a small number (depending on the year) come off the waitlist to fill any vacancies in the class. I’ve heard of this happening...

    Another mid answering questions!

Hi! Thanks for your question. The biggest culture shock for me was the sudden change in daily routine. After my senior year of high school, I didn’t do a whole lot each day leading up to I-Day, so the long days of plebe summer were really tough getting used to. The different evolutions weren’t...

    Another mid answering questions!

Hi! It was definitely stressful constantly having to memorize new material in Reef Points, not to mention repeatedly being questioned about it during any free time there was. It isn’t something you should worry about though, because it’s part of the process. You adjust quickly, you’ll become...

    Another mid answering questions!

This forum was a big help to me, so I’d like to return the favor. I’m currently part of the class of 2023, and I’m willing to answer your questions about anything. I know someone from 2022 has a similar thread going right now, but sometimes another perspective is a good thing! Fire away.....

    Ask me anything

For plebe summer, I brought paperwork, a calculator, and the clothes on my back... this was completely sufficient (the issued calculator was better than the one I brought, so I probably could have left mine at home). For the AC year, the only things that I really wanted was my watch and...

    Ask me anything

I know a number of people who had to get waivers, and this is done on a case-by-case basis. It can take any amount of time for a wavier to be granted, and it often depends on the volume of paperwork that is being processed at the time.

    May you chance me please?

I was thinking the same thing, however, I don't think there are any more ACT/SAT tests available for taking before the January application deadline. I could be wrong.

    May you chance me please?

None of us here could say what your chances are at getting in because it is ultimately up to the admissions board to determine who receives an appointment. You clearly have some strong elements of your application, but so do many others who applied. Be confident in the package that you...

    Ask me anything

There are some (very few is probably a better characterization) people at the academy who excel in many fields, but have very below average social skills. I've seen it more in the plebes than upperclass, so I'm not sure if these people end up deciding the academy isn't the place for them or they...

    Ask me anything

I'm in the same situation as 23Lt, just finished my first semester at the Academy, and I might be able to answer this one for you. Most of my high school friends went to the local universities in my state, so they tended to stay together (room together, hang out together) after high school was...

    Nomination Help

Most offices have a formal application process. If you go to your congress member’s website, there is usually a “Service Academy Nomination” page with instructions on how to apply for his/her nomination.

Between the BFE and the PTR

I’m also not sure that all of the forms on the website are up to date for 2023. I’ve been using it as a backup only.

    Permit to Report Package Questions

I believe immunization staff is referring to staff in Annapolis on I-Day. The top/middle part of the form is for you and your doctor.

public transport to/from USNA and BWI as well as No. Virginia

I went two weeks ago, the Uber was a 22 minute ride going to Annapolis from BWI (fast Uber) for $38.50 tip included, and it was a 35 minute ride back to BWI (slower Uber) on Saturday around 12, cost a hair under $40. Both were easy to get and showed up quickly! Good luck!

USNA Class of 2023 Do-It-Yourself Appointment Thread

I posted this in another thread, but figured it would be useful here: As of February 21, the Dean of Admissions told us at the CVW that he has only given out about 40 percent of the appointments that will be given out this cycle. I don’t know how much has changed since then, but I can’t imagine...
