    Coronavirus delays

I just got an email yesterday saying that admissions has recently made additional selections (I was one of them). In other words, it doesn't seen like there will be any delays due to the virus.

My portal was updated to "Qualified Not Selected" what does this mean? Does it mean I got rejected?

    Still Waiting

Okay, I'm going to send my deposit ASAP. Tell your son to look into the Strategic Sealift Midshipman Program (SSMP) that Mass Maritime offers. It's an NROTC program that gives $8k/year and a commission as a Strategic Sealift officer in the Navy after graduation.

    Still Waiting

I am on hold and still waiting to hear back from USMMA but I was told that I won't hear back until after May 1. This is an issue because I need to make a $400 deposit to Mass Maritime (my 2nd choice where I got accepted already). Is anyone else in the same position/have a solution? I don't want...

    Still Waiting

does anyone have any idea how many people are on the hold list? based on the "class profile" page on the website I averaged out the # of declined appointments over the past 5 years and its around 100 each year. Does this mean that the top ~100 on hold will get offers after May 1?

    Method of Notification

Thats good that your admissions officer said you're high on the list. Was there any mention of how many people are on the list, I don't know how high I am but obviously the higher the better right?

    Qualified status,forgot to list injury

If it will not be a problem in the future then I wouldn't worry about it. The intent of DoDMERB clearance if to ensure that you are fit to perform in a demanding military setting. No treatment, no recurrences, you should be good.

    Method of Notification

does anyone know when admissions starts offering hold candidates appointments? is it after all principal appointments are offered or could one be on "hold status" and still receive a principal appointment? I received a reassuring email from LTCDR Becker saying that I would "likely be accepted"...

    Tobacco use

USMMA is located in Nassau County, in which the legal age to purchase tobacco is 21. I'm not sure if persons under this age are allowed to possess/use tobacco products but I know that the academy permits tobacco use (in designated areas). I assume if it is legal in Nassau County to use tobacco...

    Shoulder injury post appointment/dodmerb exam

You are applying for '23 and already got an appointment? impressive. I'd recommend reacking out to your admissions officer and find out from your doc if you will be recovered by indoc, if so, I can't imagine it would be a problem. I wouldn't necessarily notify DoDMERB b/c they can be a PIA (at...
