    Restoration to 36 Companies

When all was said and done it was also a positive for my nephew (‘23). Culturally the two companies were very different, and while he remains friends with people from his first company the people he will be “besties” with for life are people he might never have met without the shotgun.

    LOA

My nephew had an early LOA, but had to wait to clear DODMERB from a concussion several months earlier. Once the medical clearance came through he received his official appointment about a week later.

T-7 days to Iday class of 2027!!!!

That’s a lot better than 2019 when it was in the upper 90s! I live in Houston so I’m accustomed to the heat and humidity, but that day was brutal! Mother Nature made it up to us with an absolutely perfect Commissioning Week this year!

    Service Academy Exchange Program

My nephew (‘23) was an exchange student at West Point in the fall of ‘21 and he had a great experience! Here’s a brief USNA Instagram link about the experience: USNA Instagram He made some lifelong friends, got an “inside” look at another branch of the military, and even competed with the Army...

    Service Academy exchange programs?

My nephew spent the fall semester last year at West Point and had a great experience. He liked seeing how another branch of the military works. My nephew made some life-long friendships while he was at West Point. He even joined the Army Triathlon Team and competed with them during his semester...

    Spring break

It’s hard to believe those Plebes who left for Spring Break in 2020 and didn’t return that academic year will soon be commissioned officers!

    Blue Angels practice

On the Blue Angels website they list the 24th as the show and the 26th for the flyover. Getting anxious for the CW schedule to be posted. It’s hard to plan with so many “what ifs” on the calendar!

    Opportunity at Naval Academy

My nephew applied to USNA and USAFA and received appointments to both. He chose USNA which had been his primary focus for quite a long time. Visiting multiple times and really exploring the options on academic opportunities as well as how he wanted to live and serve were key. My nephew also...

    Permit to Report Class 2026

Ugh! I put money on my nephew’s account last year for Christmas and his birthday. I haven’t heard of any problems, but the thought of anyone taking advantage of the mids just makes my blood boil. I went and read the Yelp reviews. It’s Venmo from now on!

When 2C Mids do the Service Academy Exchange (Fall), do parents have to miss 2C Parent events?

My mid (nephew) participated in the Exchange program this year. Even though he/his parents missed some milestone events I think my nephew would do it again without hesitation. It was a fantastic experience for him. The Academy had a smaller 2 for 7 signing ceremony after finals last spring for...

    Class of 23 & 24 Shotgunning

I thought the Academy took quite a bit of the responsibility for the incident — more than was warranted in my opinion. The press release places much of the blame for this on Covid protocols and not on the mids who took advantage of the situation. At some point USNA has to be able to trust that...

I'm sure there is a logical reason 360+ Mids didn't get their flights today....

Air travel is a challenge for everyone right now. I’m not at all surprised to hear it’s affecting Mids heading to summer trainings.
