You can hunt for plebes. For last summer, we could tell that parents were starting to arrive because the audience for noon meal formation was slowly increasing. Parents love to find their plebes and make sure the detailers know who is theirs. Makes for some fun conversations at meals

Bring some extra shorts. Session 1 had a shortage so they are allowed to wear their own shorts when not in “PT gear”

It is still a lot though. Add in a nice humid Annapolis day and the sweat will easily start making your hands slip on the tile floor. Good thing there are mops… granted they just spread the sweat around instead of soaking it up…

Yes. It changes after plebe summer when the entire brigade reforms. But for the duration of plebe summer, companies will be in the same place. Formations don’t start for a few days after I-day and will go indoors in case of black flag (excessive heat + humidity) or rain

You can be fried at any point in your 4 years at the academy. While plebe rates drop at capping of Herndon, they still don’t rate 3/c rates yet. Certain things like youngster ladders, spirit gear, and some others they don’t rate yet. Also, alcohol, while they will rate it, some may abuse it

Plebe summer, yes. Ac year, no. For PS, the “intensity” of how you square your meal will differ per company and squad leader. Part of the fun is figuring it all out for yourself, so I’m not going to go into any further detail on it. :usa:

It is exponentially worse. You do get to shower multiple times per day, but the quantity does not equal quality. You’ll have wet sweaty clothes quite literally rotting in your closet, it gets boiled then sent back and worn within a day or two. Over PS, you a literally never dry, and it is nasty…...

You can bring a backpack, you will get briefly separated with it once you start in processing, then it will magically appear in a large pile in your company area along with everyone else in your company. Due to reasons I am not entirely sure of, detailers cannot open your backpack. They will...

I wouldn’t expect anytime to personally meet with the coaches or staff. It is summer and many, if not all the teams are not in season. There are a lot of mids who are on the club team abs could tell you. The worst thing that can happen when you are here is you ask and get told no.

Plebe here: the only thing that the academy requires is that you wear a name tag on certain uniforms. You get issued 5 black and yellow tags on with last name ‘2x. Certain summer trainings will get you a special name tag (ie red for plebe summer detailers and black and white for summer seminar...

You can’t be offered a fully qualified offer of appointment until you are fully medically qualified. However, you can be offered a conditional appointment being conditional on obtaining a waiver.

No. Class of 25 was issued combat boots in I-day. It was only this past month did we get steel toes

Most people stick to the issued black boots. You are free to wear brown boots, but can’t wear them during formation.
