Most of the PLC Contracts (if not all) do come from the Corps at Texas A&M. They PT together every Tuesday and Thursday. But you do not need to be in the Corps to do PLC. The Corps and PLC go hand in hand though.

I applied in late September last year and got accepted 3 weeks later. Don't sweat it. I don't know anything about your son's stats but I'm from SC and have people from the bottom of my class to the top of my class get accepted into El Cid. It's not hard to get in, it's hard to stay.
