    Female Navy SEALs?

If you do decide to train and pursue this path, it would be great to hear from you on the outcome. I'm with others, no advice to give, but absolutely will be pulling for you. Good luck!

Potential waiver wait times for Asthma DQ?

For our DS, the DQ was determined, and within days, USAFA informed him that a waiver was being requested on his behalf. After that notification letter from USAFA, within 24 hours the DODMERB portal was updated with next steps. For him those next steps consisted of AMI's (additional information...

Potential waiver wait times for Asthma DQ?

It's been 2+ months? Just to confirm - you received communication from USAFA that they have requested the waiver, correct? Sorry, but I didn't see it in your comments above. That's the critical first step that indicates the process has begun.

Potential waiver wait times for Asthma DQ?

The timing can fluctuate based on so many variables. For our DS, it progressed pretty quickly once the SA informed him (by letter from USAFA) that a waiver request was initiated on his behalf. Assuming the request was initiated by the SA, hopefully you will hear something soon. Good luck!

Taking a lot of heat for choosing USNA over Stanford.

Soon all these people and their opinions will be in the rear view mirror and you will be the one living with your choice. Consider their feedback or advice if you choose and then make your decision. Congratulations for your hard work and putting yourself in this position. They are both...

    Backup college deposits?

We did for our DS based on advice. Discussed with the school his situation and they said we could request a refund later on. That's what we did. Took a little bit of emailing but got the deposit back. I actually did most of the conversing with the school on the refund because he was busy...

    Thank you email?

My DS sent thank you's to the individuals on his interview panel. It seemed appropriate to do a professional follow-up and it never hurts to take the opportunity to remind them of what you hope they remember about you. My impression of the process is it isn't required, like it would be for say a...

What are the chances of getting medical waivers for asthma and a labrum tear for USMA?

My understanding is that an LOA does not impact the waiver process - the medical evaluation and the standards are consistent regardless of the candidate. However, the LOA should be an indication of a waiver being requested on your behalf by the SA, unless they have already notified you of a...

    Under Waiver Review

Interesting, for our DS, it was a letter from USAFA uploaded to the portal. I wasn't exactly sure the process for the other SA's and I know they can change year to year. Regardless, the wait can be tough. Good luck to the applicant.

    Under Waiver Review

"Under Waiver Review" does not equate to a waiver has been requested by the SA. If you search that phrase on this forum, you will see explanations from others on this board that are knowledgeable about the process. It causes so much confusion with each application cycle. If a waiver is requested...

    USAFA transfer to AFROTC

So, what is your question? How to separate? How to transfer academic credits to a another university? If you join AFROTC as a freshman? Are you wondering how/if your military training at USAFA follows you? The fact that you are contemplating leaving is a separate issue/conversation - but what...

    USAFA transfer to AFROTC

To clarify, you are currently a USAFA cadet and want to separate and attend a civilian college with AFROTC? What year are you? More details might help others on this board give you feedback.

    Asthma Medical DQ

I can't answer your question, but I would say you can have confidence in a very thorough waiver process. Of course, it's also great news that USAFA has requested a waiver on your behalf, an indication that your application is strong. Good luck working through the process.

Correct way to submit "Administrative AMI"

When my DS was in a similar situation, and we inquired with DODMERB, we were told to always provide the original documentation. Summaries, overviews, are not what they wanted. They required all the detail and full context of the exam, visit or doctors notes, even though it seemed not relevant to...

Medical Ineligible Receipt for previous intracranial shunt

I was told (by people that know a lot more than me about this process) that the decision to request a waiver is independent of the DQ. We were informed that if the applicant is competitive and in consideration, a waiver review will be requested and to have confidence that we would have a chance...

DODMERB DQ - premature/inaccurate diagnosis - Is there anything we can do but wait?

Waivers are very thorough. If they consider the application competitive, they will request a waiver review and then there will to an entire process to look at the situation in more detail. Submitting information on the DQ is putting the cart before the horse as they say. Let the academy give you...

Excellent. Looking forward to seeing it again with a better understanding of the timeline and the players. So well done.

    Potential Asthma DQ

My understanding from other knowledgeable individuals on this forum is if you receive a DQ, and you are a candidate in consideration of an appointment/a competitive application, a waiver review will be requested on your behalf. So, as indicated, be fully transparent. If a waiver isn't requested...
