Texas Maritime Academy Videos I've come across

Congrats on your choice. I tried so hard to talk my daughter (non-reg, she's not the cadet type lol) into looking at TAMUG but she wanted to be closer to home for now, then transfer over to College Station to get that ring. ;)

Loudest&Proudest Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2015 fish... Where are you?

It is SOOOO bad right now with no relief in sight. :( And yeah, how 'bout those Ags? The Wrecking Crew is back! (Er, yes, this is what "drinking the Kool-Aid" looks like.)

Loudest&Proudest Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2015 fish... Where are you?

WHOOP! Go Spartans! They had a nice number of new fish - just enough to comfortably make everyone miserable for a few months. ;) If you have any S-1 questions, don't hesitate to let me know. Gig 'em! :thumb:

Loudest&Proudest Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2015 fish... Where are you?

:thumb: Whoop! I'm psyched for you. Try Bed, Bath & Beyond. They're expensive-ish, in the 75 range, but good. Oh, or Overstock can still get it to you on time, I think. And, you'll be fine during FOW - it's more mental than physical from what I understand. Um, don't hold me to that...

Loudest&Proudest Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2015 fish... Where are you?

I know you're out there, so what unit did you choose? Was your NSC overwhelming? Can you believe it's so CLOSE now? Did you find a plain white robe yet? C'mon, spill. :)

    TAMU Questions

Parent here: Book rooms early - REALLY early - during football season. And if you're able, go ahead and buy season tickets - Kyle grabs you and drags you back. Make sure you have your camera when you drop your fish off for FOW - it was so much GO GO GO! that I left mine in my purse in the car...

JCAP at TAMU this fall, anyone?

My son's almost through his fish year now, but I just wanted to say have fun!

    ROTC Question

Texas A&M offers instate tuition to their Corps of Cadets members, as well as direct commissioning. Good luck making your choice - and know that financial aid is your BEST friend - my son didn't get an NROTC scholarship, but we paid very little out of pocket after all was said and done for his...

    Application

I'd say if you've got any sort of anti-Ag bias, sign up to spend the night w/the corps as soon as you can. (Should be junior year, I think.) We take our college bias seriously here in TX (trust me, I get it) but you owe yourself at least the visit. :)

Texas A&M - Awesome financial aid!!

Good to know - I think as the boards start passing now, it's important information to pass along to those who may feel it's just all "over" without a big scholarship.

Texas A&M - Awesome financial aid!!

Jenny, how heartbreaking. It sounds to me as if you are on the right path. You're all in our thoughts as you try to help your friends.

kpmom, you should PM PositiveThinking (she posted earlier in this thread) - her daughter is class of 2012, and will be able to give you more information. Good luck!

    Sending ACT scores

I'm not entirely sure I would - the only difference in your favor was the reading and English, but you are already so far above the benchmark scores for those (the benchmarks for readiness are 18/English, 21/Reading) that I'm not sure it would make a significant difference one way or another...

Texas A&M - Awesome financial aid!!

What a coincidence - you'll love the unit! They really have tried to focus on the balance of being an Aggie and a Corps member, and are building a great foundation of leadership within the unit. :) Also, I know for a fact you're going to have some great sophomores!

Texas A&M - Awesome financial aid!!

I am so glad I happened to be awake when this came through! I can tell you that if your son's ACT/SAT scores are good and his transcript looks good, APPLY. When I say that we are from a small school district, think "23 graduating seniors." Seriously. And out of those 23, two are now Aggies...

Texas A&M - Awesome financial aid!!

Hi Cindy! I had to lick my wounds for a while. LOL But... WHOOP! I cannot WAIT to get back down for the Tech game! (We're hosting friends whose son goes to Tech so we had to make the decision to skip the parents w/end - but it should be worth it. We just went to the Tech/t.u. game with them...

Texas A&M - Awesome financial aid!!

Good luck to you and your son! The competition all the way around was fierce last year, and I assume it will be this year as well, so IMO coming up with a plan B is a great idea! If you are able, my first step would be to go to www.aggiecorps.org and look for the Visit the Corps page - our...
