    AROTC Uniforms

There are some functions that ROTC students/cadets attend which require the wearing of the Class A ( green) uniform, that is why they are issued. Also while on the topic of uniforms, it is perhaps wise if possible to go ahead and buy boots for the cadet prior to showing up for orientation...

    Payment

ARMY ROTC Please speak to the cadre at your individual school prior to the beginning of the semester. Each school works with Admissions/Financial Aid a little differently.DO plan to take a PT test as soon as you arrive on campus or within a few days. You cannot contract and begin your...

ROTC and balancing the rest of school

Please also remember to factor in additional time for ROTC such as individual PT, weekend mandatory activities ( field training, etc) and unit social events ranging from formals, Christmas parties, hosting fund-raisers, participating in intramural athletic activities. Most of these activities...

    AROTC Nuts and Bolts Question

I believe there has been some misunderstanding regarding book allowances. Please allow me to clarify: (1) the $600.00 book allowance is not a god given right. It is the amount that Cadet Command will pay up to offsetting the costs of books per semester. (2) Each school handles book...

    AROTC Nuts and Bolts Question

Regarding book allowance Freshmen, please check with your ROTC unit prior to freshman orientation. Universities handle book allowances differently. Some schools work with the university bookstore setting up "charge" accounts allowing students to purchase books up to the limit ie $600.00 per...

The ROTC Unit at my school didn't even know I was accepted there!

talk to the ROTC programs multiple times.!!! For the student this demonstrates continued interest . Unless you have the opportunity to personally meet with/interview with ROO or PMS then you are just an application in a large stack of other applications, all with impressive statistics. For...

    AROTC Scholarship

this is good information. That is why it is very important that each student/family ask their school what the school policy is. At the university where my husband was involved with ROTC the university was totally okay with the student's account going unpaid until the ROTC portion had been paid...

    AROTC Scholarship

The financial aid stuff is a little confusing. The very best thing to do is ask your school's FA office. As goaliedad already indicated each school handles financial aid differently. Generally speaking for AROTC, the ROTC department notifies FA/Admissions of incoming scholarship...

    Performance Review Board

Scuba Fan I forget to also say the fact that your cadet self-reported, when he didnt have to or hope that the ROTC cadre wouldn't find out demonstrates a lot about his character. The fact that he stood up admitted his offense, unprompted, and accepts responsibility and will be a top-notch...

    Performance Review Board

For what it is worth also---- husband as a AROTC PMS had to deal with this issue several times in his program. The extent of the punishment will in part depend on the university response and attitudes regarding underage drinking. First offense (at our school) was generally severely reprimanded...

    Cadet Andrew Maisano/lacrosse/Lowe's Finalist

    Aviation

speaking of "older" people replying to this thread. My husband had the opportunity to request Aviation straight from WP shortly before it was an official branch. He waited, realizing it would make more sense to "assess" once Aviation was official. As an OH-58D guy, Cobra guy prior to that he...

    crazy question

I also think it is (was) a very very small number. A good friend of our graduated from Air Force Academy (82) then went to Army, flight school and ended up flying Apache helicopters. He is still active duty. I think the chances of doing this are probably very slim. Possible, but not likely.

    "whole person" concept

Very good advice offered! I would like to say that our situation with grades lower than "A' was a little different. We "strongly" encouraged our daughter to take as many AP Math and Science courses as possible. Her Calc class was divided into different sections Pre-Cal, Cal AB and then Cal BC (...
