I'm in the same boat as Eagles21's son...

though their deadline is 1 Dec., that is irrelevant to the timeframe in which they will actually review your file... so by all means initiate a dialog with your admissions contact.

    Why is NROTC so strict?

The three ROTCs are indeed very different… four if you count NROTC as being two separate communities. NROTC has the following distinct differences as compared to AROTC: - all NROTC scholarships are 4 year-- there are no 3 Yr. AD given to high school applicants - NROTC has a formal week long...

    NROTC pilot selection

That is an odd statement to me. There is then no NUC draft at VMI? Every NROTC - Marine Option MID who wants go to Marine Ground or Marine Air gets ground or air? That certainly is not the case at the Academy, where probably 30% of mids don't get their first choice. At the Academy, it is...

How to transfer AROTC scholarship to different school?

Here's a thought... Contact the PMS at UVA and see if he/she or the ROO has any influence with Admissions. Failing that, I assume UVA has an appeals process for admissions. You have nothing to lose by informing them of your AROTC scholarship which is only applicable o UVA. Who knows, the...

    ROTC to Service Academy

In my view as a business person who had done a fair amount of hiring, the hiring decision is based more than anything upon attitudinal factors, rather than technical ones. I look for a person who is excited to be working in that position, but not excited in a general way. I like it when a...

    Chances of Receiving Scholarship

Your math and calculus based science is very strong... so disregard my comments about your scores. In your original post it wasn't clear that you are a Sr... I thought perhaps you were a Jr. I can see why those schools accepted you with those math scores and grades and also Physics.

    Chances of Receiving Scholarship

All the responses above seem correct to me as regards your specific question about "chance for scholarship". I'd like to make an Admissions observation. As you know, the scholarship can only be applied to a school to which you have been admitted on an academic basis... that is, through...

How Exactly Does A ROTC Scholarship Work?

I can comment on a couple of things that apply to all the ROTC scholarships -- - you apply to schools separately from applying for an ROTC scholarship. - the earlier you apply, generally, the better. That usually means March of Junior year. You may apply as late as January of Senior year...

    Chances for ROTC scholarship?

from reading these board and also from having spoken to PMSs, my opinion is that the biggest nonacademic factors are: #1: Eagle Scout or whatever Girl Scout equivalent is #2a: Elected captain of a Varsity TEAM sport (i.e. football way more important than cross country); 2b:Boys State or...

    End of CLIP

I second that ... and don't just check with HR, MANAGE the process so that it is not possible for your HR admin to (pick one) use the wrong form, incorrectly fill out the form, send the form to the wrong place, fail to send the form in on time. Basically, drive the process and don't depend on a...

How important is the PFT for NROTC MO?

Army ROTC: hardly matters Navy ROTC- Navy Option: hardly matters Air Force ROTC - Hardly matters Navy ROTC - Marine Option: An important factor

Accepting more than one ROTC scholarship offer?

Another significant difference is that ALL NROTC -Navy Option mids, not just STEM majors, must take a full year of Calculus, and a full year of Calculus-based Physics. So even the non-STEM majors in NROTC-Navy Option have to at least be good enough at math and science to pass the year of Physics.

    Frustration with ROTC!

It makes no sense to me why the services use height weight tables, or even the taping method, as final determinants of body fat %. Both are merely crude approximations of true body fat %. Why doesn't the Army have a water tank at larger bases, and simply send a non-conforming cadet (per the...

Accepting more than one ROTC scholarship offer?

^ right. He can accept both Army and Navy ROTC Scholarships while awaiting admissions decisions at the schools he has applied to. Even if Navy is first choice, if he doesn't get into his Navy ROTC school of choice, and does get into his Army ROTC school of choice, he can report on Day 1 of...

    AROTC Reserve Option

Yes, it is eight years of Active Reserve, which often becomes a mix of Active Reserve, and Active Duty, especially over the past ten years. Reserve does not guarantee staying Reserve... Active is always a possibility as needs of the Active Army merit calling up Reserves. The Army is unlikely...

    Frustration with ROTC!

Actually you're fortunate your son was not separated from the ROTC program. Failure to pass the physical fitness requirements results in active duty personnel being discharged. One day, assuming your son successfully commissions (which means he must pass the PT tests), your son might need to...

    Navy ROTC flight slot

It may have to do with the years of service obligation, which is substantially longer for pilots that for SWO.

    Navy ROTC flight slot

And if it was like past years, that is the exact same % of mids out of USNA who billeted into aviation. I have always found it admirable that the Navy treats NROTC and Academy commissions equally in terms of Service Assignment, without preference to one or the other.

    rotc to academy

An ROTC cadet/mid applying to an Academy has one avenue of Nomination not available to most applicants -- the Professor of Military/Naval Science. Inasmuch as Congressional Nominations are never guaranteed, this is an important option. So... any ROTC cadet with aspirations of transferring...

    Repayment of Scholarship Money

This assumes the disqualifying medical condition was not purposely withheld in the cadet's original Medial Questionnaire. If the cadet withheld information about the disqualifying condition, then the Army has the right to collect the money the cadet fraudulently received.
