Do you want to Drive or Ride?
I totally agree with kp2001. My DD is now a LTJG in the Active Duty Navy. The last 2 1/2 years have proven the advantage of an USMMA degree.
The USNA Ensigns have had no more than 3-4 weeks do Observing at Sea per year at the Academy. They are Managers with...
Here, Here.......and a Yo, Ho, Ho
YOU WOULD THINK...... The best administrators I have had in 43 years of Teaching have had that Philosophy.................
It would be nice to have that TAUGHT once again in MANAGEMENT CLASSES.
If my Middle School classes can learn this, YOU WOULD...
KP13
Thank you for your well chosen words. This is KP!!!! This is what matters...the Midshipman. My DD went through all of the changes also (Class Of 2011).

A very concerned parent and supporter of the USMMA...
One Question.....
Does EVERYTHING have to be regulated???
I will NEVER forget the phone call and hearing that bell ring WITH my DD. Then we both screamed our heads off......
I pulled over on the side of the road to share this moment. I am certain the people driving by seeing an 'old...
2 years SELF Prep
My DD was a SELF Prep (unsponsored) for 2 years at NMMI graduating with an Associates Degree in Math and Science with Honors.
She was not even aware of USMMA until she went there and met an adult sponsor who had graduated from USMMA.
Her biggest advantage was that...
Tutoring
NJROTC will help you. You will be ahead of many of the others in Military Bearing. Funny incident: My DD had been in AJROTC and Battalion Commander her Sr. year. A 2nd year actually corrected her At Ease position...that was quite a joke for our family.
Study hours are...
Being Ready for the REAL World
Not only in the world of KP, but these will happen in their career choices also. My DD is now in the career world and is fully equipped for what happens there by what she experienced in the KP world(above quote).

ACADEMICS and getting use to ACADEMY / MILITARY LIFE STYLE.
You will NOT live like your buddies that are going to a 'regular' college. Academy Life is much, much more RESTRICTIVE. Certainly NOT unbearable,
but vastly different. If you have been in JROTC in your high school...it...
NMMI
Best avenue to take is to go directly to NMMI website and get information from there and contact them directly.
It is a great experience at NMMI. My DD was a self-prep at NMMI--a great way to start your career there. They will 'get you ready.'
:spacecraft:
I suffer from Vertigo and have the 'dizzies' most of the time anyway. I was concerned about going on my DD's Navy Destroyer Tiger Cruise 6 night, 7 days coming back from the Gulf Deployment this summer. My Vertigo Doc gave me the behind the ear patches. They worked GREAT on the sea from Hawaii...
NMMI
My daughter went to NMMI as a SELF PREP not sponsored by any Academy.
We found it to be the BEST decision that she made in her journey to a Service Academy. It was there that she learned about the USMMA which became the 2nd BEST decision. she made!!!
The PREP Dept there will do...

Banquet - Grad Weekend
If I remember correctly, I think the Banquet was catered off campus.
Any 2011 attending, do you remember? Cocktail party and dinner was really good and more than enough to eat.
Caution by some that attended Cruise was to eat dinner before you go. There is no dinner...
Pricey.....right; well worth it.
My family of 3 (minus graduate on most items) MINUS the Cruise was $387 total.
We did for go other activities available for cost or no cost because my other daughter and her husband had never been to NYC. If we were not involved in a campus activity, we...
One option -- grad class of 2011
My family decided, along with my DD, to for go the 'Cruise' and use the $$ to see 2 Broadway shows....Blue Man Group and Adams Family.
We also had a great dinner at Le Alle restaurant.

My DD - Active Duty Navy SWO 2011
DD graduated in June 2011. There were 4 selected for SWO and 3 alternates.
I think 3 ended up accepting out of the 4 with one alternate taking a spot.
DD is Division Officer of the 5 inch Canon. She has a Chief with 23 years of experience with the Canon...
Packing Out after Graduation
My DD graduated 2011. She had to be checked out of the Barracks by 4:30 pm on Grad Day. Yes, they do have to check out with OFD, I believe. Start packing MUCH before Grad. She also sent several boxes home by FED EX and we still had barely room for her and I in her...
