    April AROTC Board

It just means that you applied for the scholarship while you were in high school, rather than going to the college and applying for a campus scholarship after already being in the program. same thing as 4-year army rotc scholarship.

    Political Views

I think the liberals you're refering to tend to be the uneducated, unintelligent liberals. Not all liberals think that way, and even I am embarrassed for them and for myself when I hear them say things like that. There are also some pretty unintelligent conservatives out there too, who are...

    Political Views

I disagree with that statement. I think the fact that there are even liberals on this website, becoming and trying to become officers in the military, proves that they can love the USA as much as any conservative could. In any case, liberals and conservatives alike are simply trying to make...

    Political Views

I recently read an artice about how the political makeup of the military is much more conservative than in the past, and is continuing in that direction. I was wondering how much the officer section of the military compared to those statistics. Potential cadets, current cadets, current or...

    NROTC Scholarship Questions

Not sure about for navy, but for an army 4 year, if you decide to quit after a year, you do not owe them anything

Students sent home for wearing American flag shirts

I think the fact that a bunch of the kids wore the shirts on cinco de mayo makes it different. They knew it was cinco de mayo, and because of that, it seems as though their intentions were to be disrespectful of that holiday. The fact that it was a group of kids also is important. If only...

    AROTC Encouragement

i've heard about that too--since i'll be taking quite a few language classes during college, i certainly hope my pms will offer that.

    Chances of Active Duty?

Apologies if this has been the topic of another thread (I couldn't find one) I've been hearing more and more recently that after ROTC, chances of going active are very low, and most cadets end up in the reserve for their commitment. Can anyone give me an approximate percentage of ROTC cadets...

What do you do if u dont make it?

it's just the scholarships that are competitive anyone can join rotc if you go to a college that has that program, just by signing up for the class. but of course, having a scholarship is preferable. keep your grades up and keep doing sports, do well on the SAT, and you should have a good...

What Branch are you joining and why?

Same here. another reason i'm still not sure if i will. I heard that it's now mandatory to have at least one female on the team. does anyone know if that's true? (sorry, this post is a little off topic)

What Branch are you joining and why?

Army. Not for any particularly good reason. My uncle and grandfather were in the Air Force, so i began by considering that, but I'm just past the height requirements for a pilot/nav (all my family members in the air force were navs) and when it came time to apply for a scholarship, the Army...

Tips & Observations for new AROTC Cadets and Parents

according to the packet i have from cadet command, elbows need to bend enough so that your upper arms are parallel to the floor. i think usually that's just under a 90 degree bend, but you should have someone watch you to tell you when your arms are parallel. when in doubt, go farther while...

Who was the youngest modern age commissioned officer?

insomnia over here too... interesting question though. I dont know the answer myself, but I would think that there might be some restrictions preventing even a rotc graduate from becoming an officer that young...

    How long have you known...?

seems like I decided latest out of everyone....I had thought about, but never seriously considered the military, then applied for the army rotc scholarship in november pretty much as a spur-of-the-moment sort of thing, ended up getting the scholarship and now, after researching a lot more and...
