DS in Cycle 2 - has anyone seen any photos yet?

Son has received at least two invites for 'last minute' AFROTC commissions pathways: from Cornell crosstown agreement schools and Texas A&M. Has anyone else seen these? Are they legit? Son already committed to UT Austin NROTC unit, so doesn't understand why he's getting these invites.

DS was 1 - first choice school placement. HOWEVER, he didn't get accepted into the engineering school at his placement school - was deferred to a second-choice major. What's the probability of approval w/a placement school change?
