Son has received at least two invites for 'last minute' AFROTC commissions pathways: from Cornell crosstown agreement schools and Texas A&M. Has anyone else seen these? Are they legit?
Son already committed to UT Austin NROTC unit, so doesn't understand why he's getting these invites.
Please also consider ASU. Our son admitted to aerospace engineering at ASU but won't be accepting. They have NROTC and, on the whole, the engineering department much stronger and higher rated than UoA. The autonomous vehicle track for aerospace majors is very innovative and relevant for future...
DS visited the NROTC unit and shadowed a sophomore mid last Friday - had an absolute blast. Was impressed with all, especially the CO, and the engineering professors. While we are still waiting on a possible appointment, UT Austin just shot up to #1 top slot for Plan B, and even trending toward...
Wondering if the number of "will decline" + "undecided" candidates are in line with prior years about this time in the season? Seems high or about right?
As of today - about 28% for USAFA / USNA and 39% for USMA are either declining or undecided.
I suppose many are highly competitive and waiting...
Can anyone verify this story that West Point has reinstated restrictions that prohibit cadets from traveling if they have not received a COVID vaccine? The story cites an official saying:
"The U.S. Military Academy at West Point continues to follow Department of Defense's guidance regarding...
DS was 1 - first choice school placement. HOWEVER, he didn't get accepted into the engineering school at his placement school - was deferred to a second-choice major. What's the probability of approval w/a placement school change?
Not to be combative, but because I understand there are viewers of this forum with some influence, I think its important to press this point. We don't have to agree, but there are good reasons to support the view that this mandate is having a substantial affect on SA application numbers...
The vaccine mandate is a factor - this forum tends to discount it too readily - but applications to Arizona and Texas universities are far exceeding prior years. Both mandate free states. Suspect Indiana and Florida the same.
It is strange that the DoD and SA continue to dismiss this factor -...
First time posting. Rising sophomore son was accepted to 2020 Summer STEM camp, and after originally canceling for Covid, today they announced the camp will be offered online. initial thought was to accept their offer for priority admission in next years session but now feel conflicted. The...
