Clarification about school choice for NROTC

For clarification, If an applicant is awarded the 4 year scholarship and is accepted to their 1st choice school, the applicant is placed at the first choice correct? I believe I remember reading on the application that the 2-5 spots were only used to gauge interest for the programs there. Thanks.

Made a mistake on the survey

On the DODMETS survey, I accidentally checked yes on a couple of questions. These questions are now locked and won’t let me change it. Any advice?

    Essay question

For the second part of the prompt- “describe a personal experience you have had which you feel had contributed to your own character development and integrity,” is it okay to write about being class president in general? Or are they looking for a more specific event?

Can a parent conduct the AFA?

My NROTC Scholarship coordinator told me that a parent could conduct the AFA. I have only ever heard of a coach being able to do it and was wondering if a parent doing it was something new.

    How true is this?

I was reading about NROTC on the Holy Cross website. In the FAQ section, one question was “What are my chances of receiving a scholarship?” This was their answer -“If you have a “B” average or above, moderate-to-excellent SAT or ACT scores, have been actively involved in high school...

    Recruited athlete in my district

Someone in my district just got a football offer for USNA. Do recruited athletes still have to have a nomination? I guess my concern is that it will make it harder for myself (not a recruited athlete) to get in. I understand that I could still get a senatorial nomination but does this...

    Question

I have been in contact with the Academy coordinator for my district. I’m debating on asking her how many spots are available at the academy this year. I’m just wondering if this would come off as rude. Are they allowed to provide that information?

    Does this count as service?

So for the past year I have picked up a new hobby of making wooden American flags. I have sold some but have also donated several to active duty sailors, soldiers, as well as a retired marine. I am also working on flags for my local sheriffs, police, and fire department. My question is- does...

    Clarification

I am a class of 26 candidate and recently got a new ACT score of 28 (35 English 28 math 29 reading 25 science). Does USNA and NROTC look at just Math and English? I’ve heard different things from different people on this. I guess my biggest concern here is my science score. Does it matter? Also...

    Advice for improving ACT scores

I am a current junior planning on applying to the academy. I took my first ACT earlier this month and just got scores back. My composite was a 26. My English was good at a 32, but my math was only a 24 which I recognize is not good enough to get in to the academy. (English and math are the only...

Injury history... will it be a problem?

I’m a current junior planning on applying to USNA and NROTC. From 7th grade to the start of 9th grade, I had 3 knee surgeries. One on my left and two on my right. All of them were for torn meniscuses, but I am fine now. (Just had some very very very bad luck) They get stiff sometimes, but they...

    College Program Application (NROTC)

If you are applying to the college program for NROTC, are you guaranteed to get into the program (not get a scholarship, just get into the program) if you meet all the basic requirements? If not, how competitive is it? Everything I’ve read says it is not competitive at all to get into the program.

I’m a junior in high school, and plan to do nrotc navy option in college. I will apply for the 4 year scholarship, and if I don’t receive it, I will join the college program.
