    Current State of the Academy

I totally understand where you're coming from as well as other cadets that are disgusted by how the leadership handled recognition this year as well as the whole intensity of 4th class development. However, I have a slightly different perspective on this. Recogniton is definitely a huge...

    Rejection and moving forward

I got appointed on 20 May back in 2021, literally a month before I Day. I would wait out a bit more but definitely have your backup plans ready.

Having a hard time deciding between USAFA, USMA, and USNA

This may be an unpopular opinion but I'll comment for your potential insight. It is true USAF/USSF has much higher percentage of "desk-job" career fields compared to USA and USN (and most certainly the USMC). I mean we are a support service branch although there are plenty of "hands on" combat...

    USAFA vs USMA

I did a semester exchange at USMA and this was my personal observation. The atmosphere of USMA's Corps of Cadets was generally more uptight and serious compared to USAFA's Cadet Wing. More specifically, USMA cadets were on average more professional and rigid compared to their USAFA counterparts...

Which academy has the best overall environment for physical training?

I did a semester exchange at USMA and I liked Arvin but still I thought it wasn't as good as USAFA's CFC. Arvin does have more racks but they had multiple smaller gyms while the CFC is one huge gym which I preferred. For running I also preferred USAFA since our base is huge and therefore has...

    USAFA & Space Force

Is it just academics at 35%? I thought it was your OPA rank

USMA vs. USNA vs. USAFA Chances

Yes I have spoken to admissions officials and they confirmed that USAFA focuses more on academics than other aspects. Also if you look at USMA's WCS point distribution, you can find out they are a lot higher points allotted to leadership/sports than USAFA. Same thing applies to classes at the...

USMA vs. USNA vs. USAFA Chances

Can't speak intelligently on how you will do with admissions for the academies but from my experience, USMA had the easiest academic standards but was tougher on the leadership side. USAFA was quite the opposite as they had high academic standards but lower demands on the leadership side. Either...

    Class of 25 to scramble???

Just curious what the reasons are for not scrambling. I will be going to USMA this fall for semester exchange and I want to know the atmosphere there.

    ACT SCORE

It's probably good for other SAs but not quite for USAFA.

AP Calc AB vs Dual Enrollment Algebra

You will have to take both once you get to USAFA: stats and calculus. If you can't take both, I would take whichever one you would do better in and enjoy more. It's senior year transcript and one class won't impact admissions that much.

    USMA or USAFA experience?

First off, I would focus more on which service you prefer than just 4 years at the academy. Just like someone mentioned above, school is just 4 years and your military career is much longer than that. To provide you with some insights on both academies, I would say USAFA is more physically...

How long to wait for appointment??

I'm a current 3 deg but I think the admissions stay pretty consistent every year. I finished my application in July 2020 and had my interview in Aug 2020 with nomination received in Dec 2020. However I had to wait until May 20, 2021 to get appointed (which was about a month before I-Day). Some...

What academics got you into USAFA?

I had a 3.95 unweighted GPA and a superscore of 32 on the ACT (28 Eng, 35 Math, 33 Reading, 31 Sci). Did not take the SAT.

    Doolie Grades

1st semester 4 deg year, I got a semester GPA of 3.3 and I remember I was somewhere around 470th academically. 2nd semester 4 deg year, I managed to pull a 3.57 GPA which brought my overall academic ranking up to 330s. These may vary across the years but not by much...just for your reference.

Never took a single computer science course nor coded in HS but I'm currently a cadet in good standing.
