    Questions Thread

So on the calendar it says that Thanksgiving break starts on the 22nd. But on the calendar it also says that classes end at 1pm on the 21st. Does that mean that the cadets can leave to go home after classes on the 21st? Because my family is already trying to buy plane tickets and they don't...

    SAT question

GPA doesn't really count, it's the class rank in your school that counts. If your school doesn't rank, then what they do (from what I hear) is rank you nationally according to standardized test scores. On your SAT/ ACT paper it should tell you what percentile you were put in against the nation.

    SLS Forms Update

What you shouldn't do is post 2 threads an hour from each other. And from my experiences applying to SLS, waiting is key. It is a busy time for the admissions team around this time of the year, as they are still receiving applications, nominations, applicant info updates, while at the same...

    SLS or Boys State?

I myself NOT being SLS-qualified, I have always thought of the SLS as a diagnostic to see what chances of acceptance would look like. As some admissions officers put it, in a way, SLS is harder to get into than it is to become a cadet at USMA. Knowing that you're accepted into SLS AND Boy's...

Bodybuilding as a club at West Point?

Oh no I'm sorry, I was referring to powerlifting and how lifting is only one aspect of fitness. I'm not exactly sure what exercises bodybuilding involves, but I'm sure it's more than just lifting. I support your passion! I've been looking towards achieving a greater body (especially those abs...

Bodybuilding as a club at West Point?

At first look, there doesn't appear to be a bodybuilding club. The closest I found to it was the powerlifting team, but lifting is only one aspect of fitness. You can check out the list here: http://www.usma.edu/USCC/DCA/Clubs/clubshome.html

Will my ACT/SAT scores balance out my low GPA?

To be considered academically qualified, I think the minimum requirements are that you have passed all the courses USMA requires from applicants. Such as having passed math up to trigonometry, etc. I got accepted with a 3.0 GPA (weighted) and a 31 on my ACT.

    Kim-Jong Il --Dead at 70

I and a bunch of other Koreans (South of course) found out about this last night during a Christmas party. To be frank, nobody was happy. Although Kim Jong-Il died, many of us believed his son is even more crazy (I guess they just get weirder with every generation). My fellow church members were...

I totally agree with you. Just trying to understand how the academy works as a school.

Well all in all my schedule is subject to radical change. I'm just trying to see if my options are open to take classes that I may be interested in, which in this case is Mech and Civil Engineering.

Oh okay, thanks! I'll be sure to study extra hard for those certain subjects. But say I don't validate any classes, would I be able to take all the requisites of a civil engineering major and take a good portion of mechanical engineering? Or vice versa?

    Questions Thread

Uh oh, I didn't take any AP tests because USMA was my only college choice and I didn't have the money for the tests (90 dollars each at our school). In that case, would I be able to take say, all the requisites of a civil engineering major and take a good portion of mechanical engineering? Or...

    Questions Thread

How does double-majoring work at USMA? Would double-majoring in Civil and Mechanical Engineering be possible? I don't know how different the courses for the two are, but I figured since it's in the same general area of study there shouldn't be that many extra courses needed for a double-major...

    Questions Thread

I hear that the nomination goes to the admissions committee around a week before it's put online, so that your Congressperson (or staff) has a chance to personally congratulate you. If that's true, I want to say that my educated guess would be anytime soon to a week at most. If not, then I'm...

    How Competitive Am I?

Quick question: Did you apply to West Point the year before? It seems to me that everything is fine, I won't say whether or not you'll have a good chance (because I don't know), but your GPA and class rank seem great. The SAT is so-so, hopefully the ACT score will outweigh it. Aside from that...

Another one of my many questions, typically when does the "Instructions For Applicants Offered Admission" pdf file open up on the candidate portal? I'm expecting that (as well as the Dental Screening Form) to be available sometime early next year, is that safe to assume? What do these...
