    Bible during basic

Yes definitely. I brought another faith-based book and they never said anything about it either. They have Bibles they hand out at the chapel services, and I took one of those for Jacks valley so I didn’t have to mess up my personal Bible.

    iPad size

Got the 12 because it was cheaper and it is pretty nice… I think the smaller would be slightly better though.

    Prioritizing senior year activities (homeschool)

Checking in as a current Cadet who was homeschooled… I played a varsity sport at a college my father taught at, but I would not say that is what is valued necessarily. I was sent to the prep school (being homeschooled and prior enlisted), and the other homeschoolers there had one thing in...

    LEAD Applicant Awaiting decision

Also a prior/preppie/freshman here. I didn't get notified by my commander until the end of March when I got my initial acceptance. A few days after my commander told me, the accept/reject popped up in my portal. If they call and offer you a prep school spot, take it. It is worth it and is...

    Doolie Grades

Current Doolie here. It really depends on how many classes you are taking, if you validated classes, and how adept at certain subjects you are. Like almost everyone else here, I was straight A's through high school and some college, but now I am here and struggling to keep B's and C's. I also...

    BCT Workouts Not Enough?

No matter how hard you train, if you are coming from sea level or anything below 2500 feet, the altitude will kick your butt for the first few weeks. If you are in better shape, it won’t be as bad, but it will still suck. They have the plan knowing that almost everyone is going to struggle for...

    AFROTC or USAFAPS

I would say it really depends on what you want to do as an officer. I am a prior enlisted about to finish the Prep School, so for me the Prep was a great option to get me caught back up to speed on school before heading to the hill. I had just under an associates worth of college credit coming...

Current Preppies answer your questions! USAFA Prep

    1. The few LAX players had practices early in the year, but now they just stay fit and practice with themselves. 2. He can join the aero club down at the airfield. There is a program at the prep for people to get their private pilot's license, but if your DS already has his, I don't think he...

    Class of 2025 - Boots before I-Day

I have been through a few boots, and the Oakleys are the best lightweight boots hands down. I have hundreds of miles on my old ABU pair, and they still are holding up. If you want not quite lightweight but max durability, go for the Rocky S2V.

Current Preppies answer your questions! USAFA Prep

Yes. We had four from Ramstein and Yokota, and all of them burned most of their leave before coming here.

Current Preppies answer your questions! USAFA Prep

At the prep school yes. At the Academy I think the tryouts for walk-ons are after basic.

Current Preppies answer your questions! USAFA Prep

There are tryouts during basic, and if you are decent at soccer you can walk on to the team like I did.

    Boot recommendations

I am a prior-preppie, and I always highly recommend the Oakley SI Light Assault 2 boots. You can usually get them $10-20 cheaper on lapolicegear.com. I still use my first pair of these for hiking, and have hundreds of miles in them. Also best boots if you have wide feet. I found the Nike in...

    Enlisted Airman CFA Scores

I had a similar situation but slightly better test scores, and they sent me here to the Prep school. I am really glad I am here, because it is helping me touch up the topics I haven't done in over 4 years. The prep is where they send most of the prior enlisted folks, unless you had absolutely...

Did any cadet get hungry .....

I am at the prep school, and the DFAC here is one of the best I've had. During both of my BMTs I felt hungry even if I ate a lot because you cram it down so fast. Once BMT is over and you can take time to eat, you can eat less and feel more full. Like a couple others have said, snacks are...

    Elemental leader

At enlisted BMT an element leader was 1 of 4 people that stands at the front of a marching formation. There are 4 elements, or columns, in a formation, and each element dresses, or lines up behind, their element leader. Depending on where you are, there are assigned element leaders, or it is...

    USAFA Prep School BFE

In our preppie group chat there have been around 10 people this week that got their folders, myself included.

LEAD Program Chances of Direct Appointment?

Being a reservist, I did the entire application myself, and asked my commander for the endorsement most of the way through the application. I was at my unit for a year before I decided to apply.

    2021 purchasing cleats necessary?

I assume that also means that we can bring spandex. Enlisted BMT allows both, so I assume I will be fine bringing them.

Are BCT and Basic Training/Boot Camp the same?

Air Force enlisted BMT was a breeze. From what I have heard BCT is much harder physically, and even more leader oriented than enlisted.
