    Suggestion for workout schedule

Stew Smith has a great website! Definitely try and mix it up a bit, swimming is always fun and low impact. Also just start doing lots of bodyweight exercises like pushups (make your arms go parallel to the deck), leg levers, and front leaning rests!

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Getting a TWE and not being accepted to NASS are two very different things. Just because you did not get into NASS does not mean you don't have a chance at getting an appointment. I know plenty of current mids who did not get into STEM or NASS yet they received an appointment.

    Plebe summer

Detailers will know rates word for word, they will probably even have reef points in their hands. They will expect everything out of you that they expect from themselves. If you are required to know the rate, they will too. Just trust the system and learn as much as you can. Take it day by day...

    East coast PROTRAMID

Hello, current youngster here. I got 1st block PROTRAMID and I would argue that we did so much more than Blocks 2 or 3. @Kierkegaard makes a good point, people love a paid trip to California (I mean, who wouldn't?). Anyways, I would argue that Block 1 did 2-3 time the amount of stuff that Blocks...

Taking a lot of heat for choosing USNA over Stanford.

You should focus on what you want to do. If serving has always been your passion, go to USNA. You'll probably never see these people again. It's what you want to do, it's your life. Do some reflection and take a breath. You have time to decide.

    Minors and Majors

Generally, if you go for an engineering major (EE, MechE, etc.) there is a high chance you will get it. The trouble is when people want Foreign Area Studies, History, or PolySci. Those are some of the more competitive majors and usually it's a lottery system.

Most important physical quality for plebe summer

Make sure to come with a good attitude and open mind. It's a different experience once you are in and everyone sees things differently. Focus on pushups , leg levers, and very, very long front-leaning rests. Remember perception is reality.

Parents Weekend - Is it required?

I would still encourage an invite for them. Plebe Summer is hard and the best part for me was seeing my family and showing them everything that I had gone through. Maybe they'll see a difference or realize something. If not, please lean on classmates and your chain of command. Feel free to also...

Parents Weekend - Is it required?

I would also say to let your detailer know when it comes to this point. They may be able to help you out and get a family.

Roller coaster I: Get You (The Parents) Through Plebe Year - Class of ‘27 🎢

Sometimes it takes sometime to find your group. This is regardless of where you go to college. Second semester is better, have him see if he can join a club or something. Feel free to reach out if need be!

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Sidenote: DTA is cool, but realize that your kid is probably stressed and nervous so try and put some distance between them and the academy. They'll be here for 4 years, plenty of time to look around:)

There is actually a hotel on yard but only midshipmen are able to book it for parents. I recommend finding an Airbnb..

What do they look for in a Re-App

No one has the inside information that you are looking for. Give them your best application and look at all the other re-applying threads.

Roller coaster I: Get You (The Parents) Through Plebe Year - Class of ‘27 🎢

Plebes can't do independent travel per the guidance put out to the brigade. They have to take the bus. I suggest your kid try and do a src.

Roller coaster I: Get You (The Parents) Through Plebe Year - Class of ‘27 🎢

Your kid can try to put up an SRC (special-request chit) to his chain of command, but I doubt it. Plebes didn't have a choice on what they could do this year for army-navy. Doesn't hurt to try.
