    Average GPA for Cadets

I thought the A- thing was partly a reason for so few 4.0's. I didn't really think about PE playing such a big role. That hurts. It would be interesting to see the stats without PE added in. How is the grading system in the PE classes controlled? So, the PE grade is part of the PE...

    Average GPA for Cadets

I read somewhere that the number of cadets with a 4.0 each semester is about 6-8 per class. So, that tells me that there is basically No "grade inflation" at USAFA.

    presidential nom and others

As USNA1985 stated, many more candidates are awarded presidential noms than will be allowed to use them. We were confused about this issue as well. Our son sought out other nom sources, just in case. Turns out, he did not get in on his presidential nom. I think having more than one nominating...

I am not doubting whatsoever that your cousin said those things. I read the end of her post and her "point" that we should respect everyone for their service no matter why they are there. I guess I read too much into that-- even if they, the Navy grad, are there only for the paycheck and cool...

H Needle I have heard my kids bring up these same issues. My son has a good friend who is ROTC and he has chimed right in with similar issues. Unfortunately, I think you will find this everywhere in life. You are going to work with some who give 500% and others who come, go and collect their...

I don't mean to be attacking anyone. I am just sharing my opinion. I am very PRO-SERVICE ACADEMY. I am PRO- ROTC. I am also pro-military! What I am not, is pro one over the other. Saying that an ROTC grad did this and a USXXX did something else, is just petty. Pointing out concrete differences...

"Quick TRUE STORY...Bullet was stationed in the UK for Gulf I, for 6 weeks I tripped over his A-3 bag everyday, because it had to remain pack and ready to go at a moments notice. Everytime the phone rang he jumped with the hope that he was being recalled. AT the same time his cousin (an USNA...

    2013 BCT Commander

I wouldn't say to stay off of facebook, just don't be stupid! In fact, I remember reading posts from someone on CC who had a hard time that first day in June. It was the people she met through the forum who encouraged her.

There are definitely a lot of passes for AF. My D has never needed a pass to leave. However, you do need a car! Those are a little harder to come by! This is not saying that AF is easier. It is just another difference. One of those debatable pro/con issues. Choose the career you want, Choose...

Yes, I hear you, Pima. The same can be said for the AFA. It's design, to the eye, is very simple and behind many of the statues/monuments, is also much meaning. The bridge the basics cross that first day... Very symbolic. Very touching. I still don't think the modern architecture, buildings or...

BTW I am not a fan of the AFA buildings either (not a modernist), but I will tel you the AF monument in DC is gorgeous. And that isn't modernistic?? Although most of the buildings at USAFA are not my style either, being there in person and taking the entire view in.... Simply...

what is the deadline for completing the application?

There was a kid in my D's squadron who was pointed out for statements he had made prior to the start of basic. It ended up being the source of a lot of humorous comments... Sometimes it is all in the way you receive the "criticism." Remember to keep your sense of humor. If you don't get extra...

Wow, I never thought I would be accused as having a chip on my shoulder for trying to point out on the SERVICE ACADEMY FORUM that the AFA is not as bad or scary a place as those who aren't/haven't been there think it might be. ROTC, of course, is a great option. Just don't ditch the academy...
