    Q & A - Norwich University

Just circling back after talking to DS, he seconds everything said by Wildflower222! No hazing, cadre care a ton about each one of them and although rookdom was tough at times they have had a ton of fun. He said PT was tough at the start for him but he improved quickly with lots of reps. I...

    Q & A - Norwich University

My kid is going to be home for spring break so I can get him to answer your question. He was a rook this year so it’s all fresh in his mind :) I know from his phone calls there was running… he ran a fair amount leading up to rook arrival and did tons of push ups/sit ups. I do know they now do...

    Q & A - Norwich University

My son was a rook this year and was home for a week for Thanksgiving. Break was 11/18-11/25. I would definitely plan on getting him home for it. That week will be a great chance for him to get away and reset. If you need any advice on travel let me know. We also have some Facebook groups that...

How are my ROTC credentials looking so far?

To confirm what you said, Norwich covered my son’s first year since he was awarded a 3 year AROTC national scholarship. His entire first year to include room and board has been covered by scholarships/grants. We’ve paid for uniforms only. I encourage OP and any others that have an interest in an...

    ROTC and College Honor's program

Also, although they are in ROTC crap can happen and it might not end up with them going into the military. Have a back up plan just in case… if the honors program will help I think it’s worth a try.

    ROTC and College Honor's program

My DS is in both (AROTC) and enjoying them. Achieving academically is important in ROTC and it does have benefits at his school. He registers for classes first I know that. You can always drop it if it doesn’t seem worthwhile. That was his thinking.

    Shakeup at Norwich

Sad news and nervous to hear what happened if it ever comes out. I hope they’re able to find someone great to replace him. The kids deserve it. Great school, hoping it stays that way with the next president.

    FY24 Branch Commandant Ratings AROTC

Thank you! So far he is loving it!! I don’t want to jinx it but it’s a great fit for him. The people make the place for sure!

    FY24 Branch Commandant Ratings AROTC

My DS goes to Norwich (freshman) so my husband and I watched the branch night livestream. It was awesome! There was so much excitement for each senior and such a great way to announce each one. You could feel the love and happiness in the auditorium. Best of luck to your son, I’m sure Norwich...

    Army ROTC 2023-2024 1st Board

Just a plug for Norwich. They’re very generous with scholarships and your child can still earn an ROTC scholarship once there if they don’t get one in the national competition. It’s a great school.

    Norwich Class of 2027 thread

Oh this is great news, Ty Michael! Hope your year is going well. I’m glad to see you’re still around here giving us info from time to time. My rook seems to be doing ok. He’s emailing us less and less which I think is good. Fingers crossed for all of the rooks and cadets that things are going...

    Norwich Class of 2027 thread

I don’t know about a limit, but ours told us this past Sunday that he’s now getting up at 0445 to be on the wall at 0500. It was 0530… I hope they’re able to adjust and get to sleep earlier if needed. It’s hard to watch them go through all of this, but trying hard to trust the process.

    Advantages of a SMC

With a kid at an SMC right now, the advantage for him that I see, is that he’s learning so much military stuff right off the bat with the lifestyle. The corps of cadets has him marching, rappelling, PT-ing at a high level, keeping his room ready for inspection and learning everything army right...

    Norwich Class of 2027 thread

Rook mom here, I feel your pain. Now I know why all of the older moms were posting on the Facebook groups that they were praying for us the night before rook arrival. My DS said it was a tough, tough week. He started emailing us today and said going out to class has made it a bit better. He’s...

    Norwich Class of 2027 thread

Does anyone know when the kids are supposed to get their iPads from Norwich? Is it when they get there? I thought I read somewhere that they send them out to the kids. One other question, anyone that got a national scholarship hear about arriving early for an ROTC scholarship dinner?

    What happens after case closed?

We just went through this. Once it’s closed at DoDMETS it goes to dodmerb which you will be sent an email saying to go watch it over there. You’ll have another login there and it will switch to qualified or not qualified after a few weeks there. Ours was quick once it went to dodmerb. Hope that helps….

    School Senior awards ceremony

If we’re talking Army, the scholarship website talks about this in the FAQs or additional information…? section and said to reach out to the closest rotc department to you and they’ll send someone to the ceremony. Doesn’t have to be the school they’re going to, just closest in proximity.
