    USAFA "Home of Record" significance?

I recommend following the ALO's advice. Your DS will be able to edit as necessary when he is at USAFA. He will be fully briefed on what he needs to do once he is settled. Regarding use subsequent to time at USAFA, our DS made some online purchases which were back-ordered. The items were sent to...

    Recruited Athlete - Nomination Help?

SwimDad, the answer to your question about help with noms is yes. Since many sports, especially fall sports, don't have their 'wish' list of desired athletes done prior to congressional nomination deadlines, the admissions department works with congressional staffers to secure opportunities for...

    Class of 2020

Currently at USAFA for an Influencer Workshop. Had a briefing from the Head of Selections. It is highly unlikely that anyone will hear anything prior to February and most will find out in March. Most nominations aren't reported before November and some finish interviews in December.

    Class of 2020

Back in 2011, there was a mailbox stalker club. The appointments (or rejections) were announced via a big fat envelope (or thin white envelope). Portals would update a week after the mailings. It seems like the waiting is still the hardest part. Enjoy the ride...it gets crazier. Best to you all.

    Parking Ticket/Citation Unreported

Sage advice from BK. You certainly don't want USAFA to find out about it during security clearance.

    Planning a visit to AFA

Regarding a visit to USAFA, consider clicking on the 'Planning your visit' button on the AcademyAdmissions.com website. It's best to get detailed information directly from USAFA regarding programs whose requirements (and sometimes their cancellation) are in flux. We can only tell you what...

Follow the directions exactly. If they don't list a time frame then list them all. That last thing you want is to knowingly leave something out and then have to explain that when you get security clearance later. Facts are facts. List them all.

    2015 Spirit Video versus Navy

I was going to reply unlikely to Blondie 1, but after watching that game Saturday there's not much to argue. Hats off to the mids. They should be bowl eligible, have 8+ wins and own the CIC Trophy this year. Glad they're on our side before and after the game.

Cold weather coming soon - What does my DS need?

My son asked for chemical hand warmers. As the Captain said, cadets learn from each other. The AF gives them what they need. What isn't working week, the cadets quickly figure out work arounds.

    USAFA Influencer Workshop in October

I have the good fortune of being invited to a workshop for teachers and congressional staffers in mid-October. I get the privilege of eating with cadets in Mitchell Hall on Friday. I hope to meet some SAF cadets while I'm there.

    My application process

g041 Please do not confuse contrary viewpoint as 'disagreement'. The people on here are trying to give you better intel on the reality of AF life at and beyond USAFA. No one is saying 'the OTHER guys are better', just that the competition is pretty ... well...competitive. Please don't take...

    Saber

Last year Firsties had the opportunity to purchase up to three at a crazy low price. Much less than what I paid the AOG on Black Friday. Tell your DS to keep his ears open. It may pay off. The sabers come etched with 'U.S. Air Force Academy' on them. I'm not sure about etching them. We made a...

    Chances for Appointment

Yes. They consider the school profile, the rigor of courses offered, etc. While it is prudent to consider if you're competitive, keep your eye on what you CAN influence. Become the best 'you' that you can become. Take challenging courses, find or create volunteer opportunities, seek out...

    Thudgate and Falcon Football time

Q: Why do pilots drink Jeremiah Weed? A: They ran out of kerosene and were saving the Jet A1 for the trip home. Cheers and be sure to drink the Weed cold!

    Thudgate and Falcon Football time

BTW, Thudgate has the classiest people and keeps the focus on the mission of USAFA, never forgetting the heroes who are serving or have served, and supporting the the amazing Falcon football team and the cadet wing. Take time prior to the game to visit, met new friends, and fail staying dry-eyed...
