Your Son/Daughter is Going Where?? Round 2

These responses boggle my mind. Our cadets are safer than nearly all the college campuses combined. I fear more for the safety of my DD going to a 4-year university than I do my DS going to WP and the Army.

    Reapplication advice

You have to complete the CFA again, so work on improving those stats. Good on you for retaking the ACT as this can help. Whatever program you go to, regular college, prep, etc. - get A's. You have to reapply for nominations - make sure you apply to ALL that you are eligible for. Then get LOR's...

I am currently a Cadet. Any questions?

What did you pack for Beast that you never even needed or wish you hadn't?

Hopeful USMA Class of 2028 : a place to play the waiting game together.

Shockingly, they can show up with nothing and everything will get processed and issued on RDay. It's happened before, so WP is prepared for these select CC.

Hopeful USMA Class of 2028 : a place to play the waiting game together.

AOG Scholarships offers begin going out in February, usually the last are given in April. It doesn't hurt to ask your FFR and/or RC. USMA AOG offers approximately 50 scholarships, similar to Falcon Foundation, etc.

Unless the appointment comes after May 1st, then they should instruct you on timeline for paperwork.

Your Son/Daughter is Going Where?? Round 2

Being from NY, we don't get the reaction of "What's West Point?" but more frequently the acknowledgement that the other person has some tie-in to the academy, from "My buddy/my friend's buddy is a [insert athletic sport] coach there", or "I have a friend/relative/etc. that has a son/daughter...

I agree with this recommendation. And on a side note, siblings need to be over 18 to be designated as beneficiaries.

    USMA Academic calendar 2024-25

As the good book says (ie The Moms Guide to Surviving West Point), let your Plebe dictate what they want to do. If they want to shop, then go shopping. If they want to eat in the hotel room then sleep, eat then sleep. If they want to get back early to prepare for the first day of class, then get...

    USMA Academic calendar 2024-25

Yes, parents can attend A Day (and any other family member or friend, for that matter). That's when the cadet candidates join the corps and become plebes. You can take your Plebe for awhile on A Day, then they have to report back for the night, but will be released again on Sunday to spend time...

What are some tips to get into West Point?

@ThomasJ I know you are appointed but there's so much for this young person to do before they get to the point of possibly being accepted. Guidance is key with no promises. Be careful making sweeping statements now that you are in.
