Not true at all. It really depends on SA / slate competition / other many unknown factors
DS scored SAT 1580 (convert to ACT 36 ) TD from USNA, no prep, no foundation, no wait list -- Nada
But he did get LOA from West Point fortunately !!!
We went to an Army Exchange inside Fort Myer join base. A store clerk helped us to get boots and low-quarter but he said they don't sell running shoes. Outside army section we saw some shoes (Nike etc) but none of them labeled as running shoes. DS bought a pair running shoes from Amazon for...
If there is anyone I would like to see to get an appointment, that is you ! It is just my personal feeling on your behalf --- how in the world, someone has spent three years -- end of nothing ! Trust me, my DS will never have this kind persistence and perseverance on any SA even a college...
Aloha and very well deserved !!!
DS's first experience with a navy sailor was 16 years ago while we still lived in Hawaii -- we often visited Arizona Memorial. The boat was run by a USN sailor.
really strange, USMA has been so nice to DS --- FFR offered him mock interview for nominations, admission gave him early July LOA, the extended two months, three army officers helped him with BB throw (the only event that delayed his CFA passing). I guess he really should go to USMA for such...
It did say "competitive" when the session was open. I think all SA summer sessions are competitive because seats are limited. Let's do the math, I believe each session hosts 800 students and three sessions means 2400. Assuming the same number applicants for NASS and for USNA (it is a...
each case is different -- we really don't have enough data to draw a picture.
How many SS turned down and also turned down in application (some SS turned down decided not to continue or USNA decided not to roll over to application)
How many SS accepted and then turned down in application...
Maybe you should contact your MOC (your nomination) and ask them to contact West Point ? I understand it is a busy season there, but they may take MOC more seriously ? The fact is you have a lot paper work need to be done before R-day. Some of submission with deadline on May 15.
Tell your DS, he is among the best qualified candidates who got TD. A plan moving forward is best, in my view, but at the same time he may just give it another try --- like buy a lottery ticket -- his main focus is a forward plan -- become an office in 4 years !
These two applications differ from the data. NASS application is a subset of admission application. It really depends how these two applications submitted and viewed by USNA --- I still believe that the profile of my DS led to double TDs. Certainly each case is different. I am not claiming...
We were so naive to wait for NASS long pending believing DS was competitive enough but maybe lived close enough to USNA (so we did not need early notification for travel logistics ) and declined some swimming competition that conflicted the session -:) The fact that NASS is also a rolling...
on USNA webpage, they list NASS as competitive --- that is the fact. When you get it turned down -- it means you are not competitive for this application -- logically it makes sense. Right ?
I meant we could easily anticipate our application TD based on NASS TD and very long pending (considering rolling admission) It was the same story -- wait and wait until last day they turned him down.
It may not be related to most of others -- but it happened to us -- we tend to believe...
We knew DS would get TD long time ago because he had been pending so long (since Dec 5 when he got nomination) plus he was turned down for NASS. Same profile in front two SA admission, very two different evaluations. It is more than just slate competition -- we know other candidates and...
