Rear Adm. Yvette Davids Nominated as Next Naval Academy Superintendent

We were on the yard this morning and heard they were transferring command. Based on the VIP activity level we saw, which was extreme, could that be? Has anyone heard confirmation of this?

Exactly! 301 with McConville’s retirement from the Army yesterday.

    Application Progress

Unfortunately, that was my son's experience last year. It all settled out, but it was frustrating for him. Advice from a family member who served, “hurry up and wait.” Best of luck to your son! It’s an amazing thing to be a part of, for both the candidate and the parent. Truly there is a Navy...

    Application Progress

This is 100% accurate, all aspects. My son's experience with USMA was WAY better, but he will lay his head down in Bancroft Hall tonight because he’s fully invested in Go Navy, Beat Army!

Post-Appointment Class of 2027 Hangout: PTR, I-Day, What To Bring, Leave Periods…all that endless new stuff

We also picked a spot on the grass and son was aware where to meet us after the oath. Dropped off a small cooler in the morning prior to his report time with cold drink and a couple snacks, which he barely got down. I think this is highly Plebe dependent (i.e. nerves, appetite, etc.).

    Nass after Stem

I hear that, a lot. My son attended 2 STEM camps and was admitted to NASS last year. So I’d say go for it!

Post-Appointment Class of 2027 Hangout: PTR, I-Day, What To Bring, Leave Periods…all that endless new stuff

More curious than anything, but… Is there a final email or letter coming with PTR information (i.e. Company #, mailing address, etc.)?

My memory from last year was that the guidance counselor had to sign off on the extra curriculars my son listed. Good luck!

    Police Record check

No MD, but my son in OH visited our local police station with the form and an addressed envelope w/ Stamp. They basically did it while he was there.

It’s on the USNA alumni association page, but you have to create an account first.

    Terrible SAT performer, any hope??

Check out StudyPoint. My son (‘27) had a great experience, exceptional result on his first attempt, AND worked with a USNA grad as his tutor!

USNA Class of 2027 Waitlist: Team Hopeful

I’m sorry, but keep him focused forward. He can go for hikes in the flatirons and clear his mind. Who knows what tomorrow will bring, but if he owns his own path he won’t go wrong, no doubt!

    SAT and Service Academies

I know this to be 100% true, my son who will be in the class of ‘27 had a perfect 36, 1 attempt, taken in the 2nd half of his sophomore year of HS. Not boastful, but clearly a good candidate because he gained an appointment. But… No LOA. My advice is just be the best well rounded candidate you...
