Thanks so much for saying this. She really has been driving her whole college search. Her deciding to apply to Navy was a surprise to us. But its a good reminder that should she not get in, she will need time to figure out what she wants to do.

It's funny, I was just going to lurk, but deciding to join and sharing on here has really been a joy these last few days. like so many others have said, no matter what happens, the journey has been worth it!

she's not even ready to think that way just yet..... she has a clear plan, and Navy is her preferred avenue to get there, but she also has 3 back up schools and contacts that will get her there. she's got it covered waaay better than I ever would.

Oh she has that down pat :) and then she will go and (almost) outshoot dad :P. (I have no idea where she gets the competitiveness from...) It was one of a few brief moments where she has let her guard down, even with us. It was refreshing, but it gave us a glimpse of what she's really feeling...

Its all over the place so I wouldn't worry about it too much. its just a data point to consider.

I so feel for you and your son. It’s such a rollercoaster. We met an alum at an action shooting match here back in the fall. We have one scheduled for the 15th. The other day DD looked at me with terror in her eyes and said,”what do I say if I don’t get in???” It was heartbreaking.

Sure! IL typically reports 7 or 8 appointments (low 5, high 10), with nothing consistent on waitlist. I see 7 reported so far this cycle.

not too much :( MI has reported 3 appointments just about every class (5 for the COVID class of 2025). they have 3 reported so far this year. but that's a really small sample.

Wow that is weird, NY usually posts 10-12 appointments a class. there is only 1 so far this year (as of a couple days ago). NY is also all over the place with when appointments come in so no easy conclusion to draw there. I can tell you that appointment notifications overall seem a little...

no idea! could be they recruit athletes heavily around here or its close so there is more awareness/more applicants... could be we have a superior state flag and the navy appreciates that immensely, but only after making our candidates suffer :P.

I don't think it is representative at all. it probably skews towards people waiting so likely the waitlist numbers are higher than the whole population. but that's a guess. though I do think directionally its probably pretty good. for example, I'm comfortable saying its ;likely that more (on...
