    Boots and so much more

I took DS to a nearby Army base uniform shop to try on/buy boots for R-Day. Unfortunately, the sales ladies were of little help (other than pulling boxes and saying "no" to my request to buy socks specifically meant for boots). Observing our floundering, an Officer(West Point graduate) nearby...

If you've accepted an appointment, is ROTC out?

I have read on this forum that some people accept their rotc scholarships and even put down deposits at their "plan B" schools as a kind of insurance policy in case of an injury or any other situation that would cause their DS/DD to lose their offer at a SA. In the paperwork that DS received...

    Nom not showing on CIS

DS received notification of his nomination to USNA on December 9. The nomination is still not showing on USNA CIS. I know the MOC's have until January 31st to submit their slates, but if you have already been notified, shouldn't it be on the CIS by now?

Was it a mistake to choose one SA as #1

When DS filled out applications for all his nominating sources (Rep,2 Sen and VP), he chose the same SA for 1st choice on all applications. On one of the app's it said (in bold) that applicants may be nominated for a SA that is not their 1st choice. DS would be beyond thrilled to receive an...

    October ACT scores not updated

The scores from the October ACT have not updated on the CIS page even though USNA was an official recipient. Is anyone else noticing a big lag time on the scores updating:confused:

ROTC scholarships use highest ACT/SAT scores?

When submitting your ACT/SAT scores for an AROTC/NROTC scholarship, do they use the highest scores from multiple tests? In other words, the highest ACT math score from all your ACT tests? Also, if you are faxing in your transcripts, do they accept an unofficial copy? Thanks!!

apply to college 1st or ROTC?

Is it best to apply for AROTC/NROTC scholarship first and then the schools on your list? Or should you apply to the schools first?

    3 Q'd and an LOA

If you are 3 Q'd, does it make it harder to get an LOA since the Board has already looked at your application and decided on no LOA at that time? I know the goal is not an LOA, but it seems that getting a nomination is also positively influenced by a candidate with an LOA. Also, DS has MOC...

    Submitting grades after 3 q'd?

Should DS update his application with his quarterly grades? I know he had to submit the classes he was registered in for his senior year, does the USNA want to see how he is doing?

Will CFA count for the ROTC scholarship fitness test?

When you are applying for an AROTC or NROTC scholarship, will the CFA results satisfy the physical fitness test for the application? DS is a senior in high school and we are just beginning to look at ROTC for college. Thanks!

    Senior schedule to stay competitive

Hi all, I know there is no one answer to "am I competitive", but I would like get some feedback on my DS's senior schedule. Today is the first day of school and DS wants to make sure his schedule is not something that the USNA would consider "weak" or less competitive. -AP Gov't (he has...

When to stop workouts before CFA?

Hi everyone, DS is taking the CFA this Friday. Currently, he has been training for it 2x/day doing all the events in the morning and everything except the run in the evening. When would be the optimal time to stop working out so that he can hopefully have a great showing on Friday...
