Tell me what this means! VP nom after a turn down in February?!

My DS receive his TWE email the last hour of the last day! He had already accepted an ROTC scholarship and geared up for that. About a week later he received a two sentance email that he was receiving a AOG prep scholarship, respond quickly. He did a quick search on the AOG prep offer and...

    GMC v MMI Question

My son attended GMC as a sponsored prep and is currently a Cow (3rd yr) at West Point. He made his decision to go to GMC vs MMI based on the more personal attention he received from GMC including a call from the school President General Caldwell (this was during covid so visits were not an...

    SA Prep School Question

This was the case for my DS at GMC. He did have to write a new essay but had much more relevant material with his experience as a military prep student. It was also nice to have letters of recommendation from Colonels and the General versus high school teachers!

    GMC prep students?

You will find numerous helpful comments in the following thread. My cadet had an excellent experience at GMC, really admired the cadre, developed friendships with other preps (and is still close to them at USMA), and felt very well prepared for WP. There were many Coasties in his class and...

    Civil Prep - Scholarships

Our son was also an AOG Civil Prep at GMC and had a great experience. During the summer program, they attended a 6-week math bootcamp and then took the ACT or SAT, and my son's math score improved. He also said many of the plebe classes were much easier because of the classes he took at GMC...

    Civil Prep and new portal

The GMC experience will provide so many more relevant experiences in military life, leadership, independence and academics. He will not want to use his highschool essays;)

4 year ROTC or self prep?

The curriculum offered at the prep schools like MMI and GMC is virtually the same as freshman year at any college. So your DS will do well or struggle with either option. Both options will offer the needed support to reapply to USMA. Good luck!

    AOG - Civil Prep

Congratulations on the AOG scholarship for your DS! My DS was in a similar position and attended GMC and received an appointment to WP. It is so tempting to compare your potential cadet's qualifications and make assumptions about why or why they didn't receive an appointment. I've come to the...

    Cold Feet

This is terrific advice! I would also advise to go to as many events at USMA as you can. When you get to know the area, become familiar with the base, meet other cadets and families it all becomes much more comfortable. And go get yourself a West Point car window sticker, you are an ARMY...

    Civil Prep Offer

Hello, congrats on your offer of an AOG sponsored prep scholarship, it is a significant achievement. My son was in your position last year at this time and did his research on the five prep schools. All of them will prepare you well for acceptance into USMA, it really comes down to fit. My...

Civil Prep vs 4 year AROTC Scholarship

My son had a 4 year ROTC scholarship to a great school but chose the AOG civil prep at GMC because USMA was his dream. He has no regrets and says he was extremely well prepared for the physical, military and academic challenges at USMA. That said, I have another son who chose Army ROTC and had...

    Received USCGA Scholar Program Appointment

My cadet went to GMC as a sponsored prep scholar last year and has frequently commented on how well it prepared him for WP. Beast wasn't difficult because of GMC physical training and the math preparation was outstanding for the WP courses. And agree that Milledgeville was a great location for...

    Tuesday -- who else

GMC. The choice was entirely up to my DS. There were several things that set GMC apart for him: 1) the school president (a retired general, WP grad) called him to discuss the opportunity, followed by a Lt Col a few days later 2) they have an intensive 6 week math evaluation and immersion as a...

    Tuesday -- who else

My son was offered AOG Civil Prep about this time last year, about a week or 10 days after his portal indicated that he had not been accepted into the class of 2024. After your DS accepts the Civil Prep offer some of the schools will reach out to introduce themselves and he will have some time...

    West Point still waiting

About this time last year my DS's portal updated to communicate that he did not have an appointment to USMA (no TWE). About 10 days later we were caught off guard when he was offered the AOG Civil Prep scholarship. I suggest you research this option in case it is offered to your potential...

What schools do USNA Foundation students usually end up at?

All of these schools will prepare a motivated student to receive their appointment. Have conversations with the admissions personnel and ask to speak with the cadre if possible. Know your weak spots and probe about how each program will help you become a stronger applicant.
