    Commencement attire

USNA lists "Informal attire" required for Navy/MC stadium for commencement on May 29. They define "informal attire" for men as "Business suit". I am afraid some of the family will show up without wearing a suit. Wil they be denied entry?

Navy at Texas Bowl Gouge/31 Dec/Reliant Stadium Houston

Oops never mind I found my answer: No. Army will play. New question, however... If Navy lost to ND, would they still play the EagleBank Bowl and Army would be out? In other words, what is the pecking order of Bowl games?

    Plebe year Thanksgiving

I see some very good specials I can grab right now for Thanksgiving break. Is there a window of what days are OK to book flights without worry? I was thinking maybe Wednesday to Saturday night.

    I day transportation

I think I know what the answer is, but I went ahead and purchased a flight for I-day for myself, wife and plebe when the prices were right. I guess I won't be getting reimbursed for the one, it looks like USNA wants to send one ticket whenever. To try to match flights last minute, or hook up...

    Visit to the Yard

Just returned from my first visit to USNA. Son was there for CVW. Very impressed with all I saw and heard, but did have an overall impression that the security was a lot more lax than I expected for a military facility. So many tours to the right and left of us I thought we were at some...

    Police record check form

My apology in advance if this is answered somewhere...tried search with no luck. The USNA police record check form states "Include where you have lived or attended school if they are different from your home of residence." We moved when my son was 5 years old, and he attended a school thru...

    Medical DQ

Thanks again, RetNavyHM. I took your advise and called today. Got very helpful information, and also was told one of the waivers had been just granted! Anyone keep stats on how many get one but not the other? I guess it wouldn't be as interesting without all the suspense!

    Medical DQ

How would you read this? If status is...... Current Medical Status: "Pending Waiver/Submission Review" last entry under 'event' is 30-JAN-08 Date exam reviewed ...... What's been happening since Jan 30? Is this considered the 3-8 week waiting period? Or is some follow up in...

    Status change explanation?

Today being Feb 17, and the two most recent dates shown are Feb 13 and Feb 14, should some new news be anticipated? Or was that the news? Definitely not NROTC scholarship offer date-Jan 7 or USNA LOA date-January 11. We're in a waiver and/or qualification status situation.

    Status change explanation?

How does one interpret this? ROTC appears to change AFTER the review where Academy appears the opposite. Can you get a waiver for one but not the other? US Navy ROTC Admission Status Change Date: 14-FEB-2008 Current Medical Status: Pending Waiver Submission/Review (as of 30-JAN-08 )...

    DQ'd but "forwarded on"

RetNavyHM You are a saint to answer what must be variations of the same questions over and over! Thank you...I'm starting to get this (I think) . I guess my next question would be this: I believe there is strong evidence to convince the powers-that-be to change the status. But...

    DQ'd but "forwarded on"

My son's doctor, with mega-credentials in his field, after submitting the original reports that resulted in the dq, followed up with a very specific letter that included in part "I can state unequivocally that it is my decided medical opinion that this young man would have no contraindication...

    DQ'd but "forwarded on"

Confused about "forwarded to the waiver authorities." Is something supposed to be done to open the appeal with the waiver authority so they know who the applicant is? "quickly reviewed" --how will you know if they did or did not remove the Dq?
