    Commissioning 2015

Congratulations to all of the newly Commissioned Officers of which DS is one! The color of the bands represent their branch. Norwich graduation was Saturday and Commissioning was on Sunday. Graduation (SMC) was exciting and impressive. The bonding, brotherhood and camaraderie of the Cadets was...

    FY15 Army Accessions Board Results

-- If I am interpreting the numbers correctly based on first choices and mission allocation: MS was the most competitive branch, then infantry?

    529 Plan

I too am wondering about the withdrawal time frame from a 529 when the withdrawal is made because the student attends a SA or the student received a 4 year ROTC scholarship. Not wanting to pull the money out too soon (after first 2 years 'just in case' scholarship wasn't maintained for...

    Freshmen on AROTC Ranger Team

I am second guessing myself now! I just sent a message to DS to find out for sure!! Good luck to your DS. As they say do your best and don't worry about the rest!

    Freshmen on AROTC Ranger Team

DS was on the team as the only freshman. It is my understanding there are 9 team members in which at least one must be a freshman. So they can take more than one but usually don't.

A *little* info from Fort Knox....

DS got bit by one of those spiders, in addition to poison ivy exposure. Pretty bad case for both, but he's fine now after treatments. The heat was no issue for him. He was 4th Regiment and graduated yesterday.

Yes. If he will be in the Corp of Cadets, he is required to be in ROTC. He can choose which branch. http://natservices.norwich.edu

    LDAC 2014

Guess the dates for LDAC are still being determined? Still waiting to hear my DS's date for LDAC and hopefully CTLT.

Why haven't I been rejected yet?

A nomination is required to be considered for NAPS and NWL.

    Scholarship to SMC's

One does have to list and rank schools on the AROTC scholarship application. If he is awarded a scholarship but not to UNG-his first choice, he can try to transfer the scholarship to UNG (but there is no guarantee that it will transfer) or he can decline the offer. If he decides to attend UNG...

    Norwich Bound!

The Norwich in house scholarship for room and board is now called the David & Dixie Hollis Scholarship. No longer called the ID White Scholarship, but it still covers room and board for those coming in with ROTC scholarships. You have to maintain a certain GPA ( I think 3.0) to keep the David &...

    No Sports - Uh oh

Wow. It's is hard to believe there is a public high school with such a high rating and has no sport program.

    BSA Core Values....

Right, I see what you mean; it is all very ambiguous. As an assistant scout master and a parent of an Eagle Scout, I hope the BSA will no longer be discriminatory. While they want to think that they are being inclusive by changing policy to allow gay youth, they are not. Under the current policy...
