I had a similar problem. I switched my major to something that was very similar to my old major, but this new major wasn't approved by the air force. The reason some majors aren't approved is (usually) because no AFROTC cadet has gone through all of the paperwork to get that major approved yet...

Just asked my father who served 20+ years in the AF (non pilot, but still), and he said it's because bombers are designed to fly into "combat areas". Whereas something like a C-130, can be designed to do either. Not a satisfying answer, but it makes sense.

What were your stats?

I have not, but I have friends from Field Training who just found out. I believe my Cadre wants to wait until PT or LLAB to announce the results; not something I'm happy about.

Cadre showed us a chart that said 390 pilot slots for this year, I can't recall the other numbers but I remember the RPA number was surprisingly low. Rated results are expected to come out February 13th, but who knows if it'll get pushed back.

We just had two 400's at my detachment leave the program because they decided the AF wasn't for them. This is what the Air Force wants right now, correct? Cadets voluntarily leaving or going into the reserves. However, neither of those cadets had a rated slot. So I imagine if they did have...

I got an AFROTC scholarship with something like a 3.1 Focus on the whole package.

When there is an opportunity to lead or take charge, jump on. Don't look around and wonder if someone else is going to do it. Just do it. Be that cadet.

My det got our dates the day after EA's came out.

Got word from Cadre a few weeks ago that Field Training is now 22 days. Also, got told a few days ago that spots for Non-Tech+Non-Rated cadets will be very limited.

I heard it was from 28 to 27.
