    Sports?

Anybody got experience not making a sports team? What options do you have if you don't make the team? Any opportunities to be a manager or be allowed to practice with the team in order to make it next year? Anything helps, I'm worried I won't get to play.

By April 1 – Regular Admission decisions released?

So just for clarification, all admissions decisions are made by April 1st, but appointments can be offered before this time; is this correct? Additionally, are most appointments released before this date, or on this date? Do sports play a major factor in getting an appointment before the deadline?

    Question About Walk-on Athletes

How common is it for athletes to participate in a Varsity sport here without being recruited? Additionally, do coaches allow for "team managers" and allow for students to participate in practices and, even if they're not first string? Also, are there any cases where a person may not make the...

How much does athletics play a part in admission?

I've been interested in applying at USAFA, but I don't play any sports other than my school's rifle team (I have lettered in rifle). I just don't have the time to join another sport. Being appointed would be absolutely amazing, and I'm wondering if I can make up for this with my CFA scores...

    No sports

Hi there. This is probably a very repetitive question that gets asked a lot. My biggest concern right now is not getting a nomination because I’m not qualified because I don’t play sports. I would love to go to the USAFA but I really don’t know if I should even apply because I don’t play a...

    Is athletics make or break?

I've done a little bit of athletics during my high school time (currently a rising Senior), cross country for one year and a varsity letter in raider Team for two years. However, I am far more involved in "Academic Extracurricular" like Quiz Bowl and have published papers in science journals...

    Non School-Sponsored Sports

Hi all, just have a quick question about school-sponsored vs non school sponsored competitive sports. A quick background: I applied my senior year of high school and lost my admission because of a failure in the paperwork of a blood test. Since then, in starting my sophomore year of college, I...

How can someone be committed this early?

Hello all, I recently say someone from my school and grade being congratulated on social media for being committed to the Navy for 2024 and I am very happy for them. I have never talked to this person but I know that they are very good at their sport and I believe this may be a factor. I am...

    Sports

Currently, I am a junior and I'm starting to prepare myself for the onslaught of academy applications. Early Acceptance for Sports?

The linebacker for our football team committed to going to West Point around July or August before his Senior year (He had already been accepted). I'm looking at the application timeline that West Point has and it says that you should receive an official offer of submission anywhere from...

Hello, as you probably know, the USMA candidate questionnaire form opened today. I was planning on completing it ASAP, but I became unsure when I got to the sports and school activities section. I am planning on playing varsity baseball this spring, but tryouts haven't started yet. I am also...

    Varsity Sports Not Offered

Hello all, I know West Point traditionally gives major weight towards having varsity sports in high school but would students be penalized if varsity sports weren't even available? I recently transferred to a new school for my Junior and Senior year of high school that does not offer any form...

Chances of getting into USMA (West Point)

I am going into my junior year and my dream is to get into West Point. The only problem is I did not realize this until halfway through sophomore year. I have started working very hard and pursuing better grades and leadership status. My freshman year GPA was a 3.1 (4.0 scale). Sophomore year...
