Any reports from PS worth noting? We are 5 days in so far. My DW spends every waking hour cyber stalking the FB, Instagram, tweet machine etc looking for signs of life for our DS. DW has found DS a few times intermixed with false alarms. Weather looks to have been hot but forecast shows relief in a few days with rain. Any DORs?

My recommendation is to enjoy the phone calls, letters, and plebe parent weekend. The rest does no good. They are doing well I am sure.

First 5 days of a potentially minimum 9-year journey as these young adults launch their active duty careers.

Excellent opportunity for parents to plan/start executing their post-child-launch personal growth and bucket list plans which were set aside for hands-on child-rearing, depending on how many are left in the launch chute. Now your mid gets to put into play all the “how to be an adult” lessons you imparted to them and you get to breathe out on the sidelines at last, job well done. As one of the parents of a sponsor mid once said, “I’m no longer their everyday coach, but a long-range consultant.”

Is she a scouring the paid photo programs? That’s where you will find your Mid. Both are exceptional. One is techo-frustrating, but still fantastic photos.

You probably won’t hear of DOR’s. That’s a well-guarded program.

DD was on the Yard for the first several days of plebe summer, in an unofficial “distant observer” capacity. Her description: “Definitely more intense than last year.” And also, it seems, more intense than her own plebe summer three years ago. No one should take “more intense” as a negative or a positive. I’m sure plebes will offer their own colorful descriptions in letters and calls soon enough.

The alumni paid photo site won’t start posting til this weekend.

Thornton is the other program. He is usually quick with photos (shoukd already have some up). He is a USNA approved vendor. USNA also posts to FLICKR. You will enjoy those pictures. Nothing like seeking your plebe, doing really cool stuff.

I’m aware of the alumni site, which posted (I believe) some 2,000 I-day photos, though none of my DS. (DH appeared in several at the parents fair but I don’t need to see pics of him, as I brought him home with me!) What is the other paid photo program?

As mentioned above in another post. Google Thornton Studios Annapolis.

Flicker is free and I spotted some plebes our DS mentored. Pictures are great, I cannot imagine Waldo hunting being this easy (no masks). Plebes look sweaty and they are doing plebe things. Running. Lots of running. Detailers look great, strong, and motivational ;). Plebe parents don't worry, your kiddo (always your kiddo, but now they belong to the Navy) is in great hands. They will be taken care of, trained, motivated, broken down, and built into something you can only imagine.

2024 parents didn't get Parent Weekend so we didn't see the transformation from plebe summer. We waited until Christmas liberty, but it was worth it. You guys will be astounded at what USNA has done for and with your kiddos. This is a great ride, don't stress. For me personally, the sooner I let go of the daily worry and stress and need to know every detail, the sooner I was able to relax and just enjoy it all.

And I think I saw even more growth at the end of Plebe year. Cannot be more proud.

Your words are exactly why I am staying strong through this all! 🙏
