Hi there. We are trying to figure our question 59 re: dry skin. If he hasn’t be diagnosed with eczema or psoriasis, how bad does the dry skin have to be to check yes. Doesn’t everyone get some dry skin in winter? It’s not extreme - no cracks or bleeding. If he checked yes, would the additional info that it goes away with over the counter lotion be enough to satisfy the doctor? He does not want to hide anything but does not want to make something out of nothing.
thanks!

There is no "WE" for an applicant completing his medical history form. The applicant can complete his own medical history form, BUT...if he still has questions answering these questions: 74, 75, and 76 are pretty straight forward,

He can:
APPLICANT: If you’d like, you may send me an email: lawrence.e.mullen.civ@mail.mil; provide complete name and last 4 SSN; provide the text of your Parent's posting above to YOUR email. The subject line of the email should be “Seniormom- SAF =Dry Skin.“ Do NOT embed links in your email as I will not be able to view those. :wiggle:

Since Mr. Mullen has been unavailable lately, can you share how the applicant was advised? Thx in adv.

I cannot help answer your question directly, but indirect, general guidance in the absence of direct replies whilst the DODMERB folks work out their significant issues : You should be complete and honest with anything diagnosed by a medical professional and documented in your chart. However, for any self-diagnosis items (I think I probably have...) I would not enter your opinions (I think I may have...). The DODMERB process is tricky enough - why complicate things - who benefits?

There are people with severe skin issues that steroids, cremes, medications can help who have a diagnosis in their chart or it's found on examination - they are often Dq'd because the deployed environment you cannot control when they may be inflammatory conditions for their diagnosis or may not have that med with them or be in a position to disrobe, rub that creme in, keep it dry etc..

I am trying to best counsel my son as he is working through the application process to UNSA. While my son was filling out his medical review it ask about being diagnosed with eczema. Of course he will answer yes because he has. My question is eczema something difficult to get waiver on. It’s very mild and flares up a little in the summer. It’s has never stopped him from doing anything, right now you would not see anything on his skin. I want to help manage his expectations as he is finishing up the process.

Thanks
