57 years ago this month as Marines stormed the shore of Red Beach outside of danang they were met by VN girls with flowers and several US Army troops holding up a large sign with the above written on it.

I have seen no report on how much those Army troops may have been laughing as they held that sign.

Us 4 or 5 sailors who were on our way to Camp Pendleton for Field Medic training and then VN when the landing happened, thought the fighting would be over before we finished our one month training and deployed.

Not one of us thought the fighting would last more than a very few months

17 months later 3 of us , now back together and on our way home, were walking down a busy street in Oki and all 3 fell flat on the sidewalk when a car backfired.
