Start at link below. Explore everything. Some stuff is still updating from Class of 2028. But the all-important 2029 PTR and related checklist are there. Time to execute!

Thanks to @Georgia Hokie for noting it was up in another thread. I’ve had this draft post ready to go, just checked an hour or so ago.

Eeeek!!

Here we GOOOOO!!!!!
🎢🎢🎢🎢

Some of the items each year that cause brow-furrowing:

- police records check (search for helpful threads on how to get this done)
- vaccinations (ditto search, check county health or travel clinics for hard-to-find) And yes, USNA will give missing ones, but that isn’t a great way to start PT on I-Day with aching arms.
- SF-86 (read the fine print directions at the top of each section; this is essentially a hand-written copy that the P2B uses as a reference when completing the actual one online at USNA)

Action for savvy SAF USNA current/recent mid parents - join in with best practices and tips for PTR!

PARENTS: join your state parent culb!! Reach out to your BGO if you cannot find a link. But celebrate your appointment with your first USNA event: new appointee picnic.

Orders to active military service:

Oh - SAVE that email or letter attachment that directs the appointee to report on X day at Y time to enter USNA. That marks the start of their active duty service and are essentially their “orders” to report for military service starting that day.

You might need this for auto insurance purposes, state tax purposes, etc., as this is a major status change. They are not civilians “away at college.” They are AD military serving out of state, unless you are in MD. There are threads to search on these topics; I am not going into it here. Just trust us and save it!

Sorry for a dumb question, i assume they will cut actual orders and make travel arrangements for my DS? Similar to what NROTC is doing for him to go to NSI (he just cleared med)?

Do i need to buy a plane ticket for him?

thank you! I

Thank you! So for now we only can see the this public link , right, no letters or orders received or notifications in portal. I just want to make sure we’re not the only one. Have not received any email or replies to emails. We are good as long as it’s normal and not an issue isolated to us :-)

Dive in and read the PTR and the checklist.
Better yet, let your son review the landing page at Plebe Summer Home, the PTR checklist and the PTR booklet, where he will find detailed instructions on everything he needs to do before I-Day!

thank you! I

The page above is critical. The P2B should read through it slowly and intentionally, scrolling through to the very bottom of that page, printing out as recommended. Then proceed to the Checklist and the Booklet. This is the “final exam” for executive function and attention to detail.

I think any email the candidate to the same link. Don’t wait for anything. Just get going.

All I see on the USNA site is still 2028
Is there another site to look at?
thanks
Did you click on Permit To Report?

I noted in my first post there was still some Class of 2028 info posted that would be updated to 2029 info in the coming days. Today, the full info for 2029 populated at the Permit To Report button.

trying NOT to be thick - here
I do not see a Permit to Report button to click
or is it on his Portal ?

If you are still unsuccessful, I suggest clearing your cache and trying a new browser.

On the USNA website (no login required): Go to the Parent tab. Special Events. Plebe Summer. Permit to Report.
There is still 2028 on some pages, but the PTR info is 2029.

@SJJFlash

Okay, let’s do this:
Google “USNA Plebe Summer Home.” Or just use the link I provided in Post #1; you should land at screenshotted page below. Just use Permit To Report buttons to navigate. See screenshots. You are not in anyone’s portal. You are on the USNA website. It’s all there. As noted in posts above, some 2028 info is still there but will be updated in the coming days. The 2029 PTR populated today. Wave a hand when you get there! And, then turn it all over to your appointee. It’s never too early to start to manage a military action list.

Click on Permit to Report.
That will open up the landing page. Read all.
Then move in to the Checklist and the Booklet.

It can all be done. Some of it is just tedious. But it’s the start of the next rollercoaster!

Saw that thanks! I meant to ask about your post about a letter to report on x day at y time, and the web page prior says there will be an email/letter attachment. (Okay we see it says June!) Just want to make sure there’s no other email others are receiving. DS has not gotten any email since he changed his email address midway through the application and got a confirmation from admissions that they changed it but he still has not received any notification type email since then, so just making sure the lack of email to date is not isolated to him, and it is in fact across the board just not sent yet:-)
