Here is one data point set from LOA to BFE. Every year questions get asked on "how long to get from point A to point Z?" which can vary from year to year and can even vary quite a bit during any given cycle. This is just what DD experienced early in this cycle.

Timeline for DD
LOA received in portal September (20th) => LOE received in portal 7 or 8 days later => Conditions of LOA satisfied (CFA taken and submitted) October (12th) => Qualified letter in portal October (19th) => Offer of Appointment in portal October (28th) => BFE arrived on doorstep November (3rd)

Some physical letters were actually sent in a thin white envelope after appearing in the portal such as a letter sent in error about the CFA which arrived all mangled and the qualification letter. There may have been other letters mailed but if they were she did not receive them. The BFE did not show up on USPS Informed Delivery so it was a surprise to find it on our porch this morning.

Your mileage may vary.

Probably should delete that one pic that shows name and address...

(though that appears to be the WP return address. )

Congratulations! Go Army! Most people won't hear until that first big wave in January--and then the steady flow of offers from mid-January until the end of April. This is what happened at our house for my #1 Son--he received an LoA shortly after Labor Day and the BFE in mid-October. For #3 Son, he completed his application in December and heard NOTHING until the BFE arrived in very late April.
There are many different ways to be notified--and no way to know.

Congrats to your DD! Echoing DrMom's comment, there are too many variables that can impact the timeline. It's best for all candidates to submit their best application, let the process playout, and have strong plan B, and C's. In the state in which our cadet is from, little moves until all state nominations are in -- and our state is notorious for not releasing noms until the Jan 31st deadline. Best wishes to all!
