10 Navy Helicopters Suffer Major Damage, Several Blown Over in Sudden Norfolk Storm

Week and a half of Cortramid E left. Someone's aviation week might be a bit different from the last two weeks.

I remember taping the windows at Ft. Eustis when Hurricane Gloria bounced past. I don't recall anything flipping over though.

I've lived on East Coast of Florida for 8 years, and I'm still amazed at how quickly these violent squalls can develop mid-afternoon without visual warning. I do Marine Construction, and we watch that radar picture starting at noon in July, August and September. They can form in minutes. Thankfully no one got hurt.
