All right 200/250's and involved parents...

I must have been dreaming about EA selection last night. I woke up humming a song that I had made up about 12 day's to EA announcements...It was similar in tune to the 12 days of Xmas.

I'll spare you all with the details of how it went...but I really really think that I need to work a little on getting more of a life.

If not I'm going to turn into my father (age 90) who called me yesterday to ask how my dogs were doing..... He had had a dream that my Rottie had gotten stuck in the doggie door that I had installed for my min pins and that the fire department had to come and take down my wall to get the Rottie free..

I don't want to be calling Matt when I'm 90 because I was worrying about his animals in my sleep!!!!

hmmmm ....It's 12 days to EA's and I can not sleep.......1 cadet running, 2 cadets crying, 3 almost.......

OK enough is enough !!

Hang in there. I know there will be several posts to follow...about how it's wrong for parents to be as nervous about this. I don't even think DS is worried - he's off enjoying spring break (as it should be).

But I'll admit - I am nervous. Not that I want/can do anything to change his situation - but rather - just waiting to find out if he's getting one step closer to his dream. I don't think we ever really stop thinking about their future and hoping for the best.

+1 MSFaygo, your last paragraph took the words right out of my mouth. Another nervous parent here even though my DS seems not to be worried at all. I do find the whole song thing a little funny though, lol.

The funny thing is...while I can't get it off of my mind.....It's more excited for my DS than worried.

It may seem hard to believe with all of the threads I've started about FTP and SFT and EA's...I'm not really nervous or worried.

Could just be that I'm "Jonesing" not sure if that is a real word or not...for a fresh new reason to be proud of?????

Watching Matt play baseball year round for 10 years from the age of about 8 I got a "fix" of parents' pride every couple of days.

No longer a teenager and 2500 miles away from my baby...I'm still going thru withdrawals...

As a parent, I know how everyone else feels. I was nervous for my son to get into his #1 school and kept telling him that it's not a given and to make a plan B and a plan C. For some reason he wasn't worried. Maybe it was overconfidence on his part. He got in to both his #1 and #2 schools and got offered ROTC scholarships to both.

Now we wait to see if he gets a medical waiver. He still seems unconcerned, even though I know how much this means to him. I am worried for him.

Being an officer in the Army is not my first career choice for him. He is going to put himself in danger and there's a chance he could get maimed or killed. Again, he is unconcerned. He said that if he gets maimed, he hopes he can pick himself up and continue on without missing a beat. He said that he is born to do this. That is why that even though this isn't my choice of careers for him, it's his dream and he is working hard to make it happen. I want this for him and am very proud that he is willing to serve his country and someday become a leader when he could have taken the easy way out and had a safe career.

+1 2018Class

Apparently the willingness and desire to become an officer in the US Military is a characteristic that obviously comes mostly to those with a great degree of self confidence. We are the luckiest parents in the world!

aw...no thought provoking distraction to pass the time today? How about...

What do you think happened to the Malaysian 777?
 Pilot suicide
:unhappy: Terrorism
:frown: Mechanical failure
 Aliens :spacecraft:
 Other (what else could it be?)

I started that thread under "off-topic" a few days ago. The name of the thread is ..I think.....lol Flight 370

If you check it out I want you to note that BEFORE we had any information about transmitters and data equipment being turned off....or that the plane's engines would give off their last transmission at 8:11.
I was inquiring about the pilot's flight simulator and whether it was possible to turn off tracking devices and whether the plane could have been flown to some remote island or a country ending with istan..Pakistan Afganistan...Iran (istan) jk and landed to be sold to (this next part is coming from my blacklist obsession) those two guys traveling on fake passports....

All purely speculation based on that initial left turn while in-between different country air space...

I finally came to the conclusion...LOL that somebody on CNN was reading my "hypothetical" posts..before their breaking news..

And while I'm playing on the computer talking to you guys to pass the time...My DS is headed of to a spring training game between the RED SOX and the Yankees... Did anybody else's DD/DS ditch a trip home to see the folks over spring break or am I the only overlooked parent here??

But for those lazy people who don't feel like leaving ROTC threads here is the most outrageous

Russia “Puzzled” Over Malaysia Airlines #MH370 “Capture” By US Navy #prayformh370

A new report circulating in the Kremlin today prepared by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (GRU) states that Aerospace Defence Forces (VKO) experts remain “puzzled” as to why the United States Navy “captured and then diverted” a Malaysia Airlines civilian aircraft from its intended flight-path to their vast and highly-secretive Indian Ocean base located on the Diego Garcia atoll.
According to this report, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (also marketed as China Southern Airlines flight 748 through a codeshare) was a scheduled passenger flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, China, when on 8 March this Boeing 777-200ER aircraft “disappeared” in flight with 227 passengers on board from 15 countries, most of whom were Chinese, and 12 crew members.
Interesting to note, this report says, was that Flight 370 was already under GRU “surveillance” after it received a “highly suspicious” cargo load that had been traced to the Indian Ocean nation Republic of Seychelles, and where it had previously been aboard the US-flagged container ship MV Maersk Alabama.
What first aroused GRU suspicions regarding the MV Maersk Alabama, this report continues, was that within 24-hours of off-loading this “highly suspicious” cargo load bound for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the two highly-trained US Navy Seals assigned to protect it, Mark Daniel Kennedy, 43, and Jeffrey Keith Reynolds, 44, were found dead under “suspicious circumstances.”
Both Kennedy and Reynolds, this report says, were employed by the Virginia Beach, Virginia-based maritime security firm The Trident Group which was founded by US Navy Special Operations Personnel (SEAL’s) and Senior US Naval Surface Warfare Officers and has long been known by the GRU to protect vital transfers of both atomic and biological materials throughout the world.
Upon GRU “assests” confirming that this “highly suspicious” cargo was aboard Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 on 8 March, this report notes, Moscow notified China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS) of their concerns and received “assurances” that “all measures” would be taken as to ascertain what was being kept so hidden when this aircraft entered into their airspace.
However, this report says, and as yet for still unknown reasons, the MSS was preparing to divert Flight 370 from its scheduled destination of Beijing to Haikou Meilan International Airport (HAK) located in Hainan Province (aka Hainan Island).
Prior to entering the People Liberation Army (PLA) protected zones of the South China Sea known as the Spratly Islands, this report continues, Flight 370 “significantly deviated” from its flight course and was tracked by VKO satellites and radar flying into the Indian Ocean region and completing its nearly 3,447 kilometer (2,142 miles) flight to Diego Garcia.

Critical to note about Flight 370’s flight deviation, GRU experts in this report say, was that it occurred during the same time period that all of the Spratly Island mobile phone communications operated by China Mobile were being jammed.
China Mobile, it should be noted, extended phone coverage in the Spratly Islands in 2011 so that PLA soldiers stationed on the islands, fishermen, and merchant vessels within the area would be able to use mobile services, and can also provide assistance during storms and sea rescues.
As to how the US Navy was able to divert Flight 370 to its Diego Garcia base, this report says, appears to have been accomplished remotely as this Boeing 777-200ER aircraft is equipped with a fly-by-wire (FBW) system that replaces the conventional manual flight controls of an aircraft with an electronic interface allowing it to be controlled like any drone-type aircraft.
However, this report notes, though this aircraft can be controlled remotely, the same cannot be said of its communication systems which can only be shut down manually; and in the case of Flight 370, its data reporting system was shut down at 1:07 a.m., followed by its transponder (which transmits location and altitude) which was shut down at 1:21 a.m.
What remains “perplexing” about this incident, GRU analysts in this report say, are why the American mainstream media outlets have yet to demand from the Obama regime the radar plots and satellite images of the Indian Ocean and South China Sea regions as the US military covers this entire area from Diego Garcia like no other seas in the world due to its vital shipping and air lanes.

I don't mean to make light of the tragedy, but I keep thinking about the TV show LOST.

So...we are expecting the Army to announce the final board on Monday? Hmmm....any chance it might be a little earlier? Getting anxious. Probably more so than DS..I never worried about checking the mail box until we started this process. I got more gray hair this year than ever too. Ha

Actually...this thread is (mostly) about AFROTC SFT announcements

And the wacked out ways of SOME (at least one) of these cadet's parents as they hope for the best for their offspring...

Have you heard my latest jingle?

Good morning good morning
How are you today?
Good morning good morning
Three more days to EA
Good morning good morning to you!

How many rated? How many rated?
I don't know. I don't know.

OK For those of you keeping track....it's been 12 days....

Rumor is that cadets are racked and stacked and once again the board is awaiting a cutoff number for what the demand is going to be from AF..

I am going to formally request that LineInTheSand help them draw the line if it doesn't happen this week.

No jingle this morning yet, but I'm on the way out the door to take the dogs for their morning walk late today.....so you'll aren't out of the woods yet!

Shout out if anybody hears any news!!!
