#18 Mariners Competed At Long Island Open

The #18 nationally ranked U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Mariners wrestling team competed at the Long Island Open on Sunday, January 3rd. The Open was a non-team scoring event. The Mariners had three individuals win their weight class and five individuals finished fourth or better.
Jordan Alfaro took third overall at the 125-pound weight class. Martin Bell finished in second place at the 149-pound weight class. Nick Swanson also wrestled at the 149-pound weight class and took third overall. At the 157-pound weight class, #10 Dan Twito took first for the day. Also at the 157-pound weight class was Logan Torgison who took fourth overall. Justin Diesel was the second Mariner to win his weight class as he finished first at 174-pounds. Noel Richardson took fourth overall on the day at the 184-pound weight class and Eric Vincent was the only other Mariners to take first as he won the 197-pound weight class.
