Here's the deal;

I've been accepted to both USMA and USAFA, recieiving my MA appointment in December and my AFA appointment a few days ago. I was notified by Navy a few months back saying that I was scholastically qualified. I checked my candidate database the other day for Navy and it said that I have a nomination from both the president and my house of reps (but as an alternate). I really want to go to the NA and have dreamed of going there since I was in 8th grade. What are my chances of getting into the Naval Academy right now? Thanks for the help.

But, ibman, your avatar? It indicates otherwise....

So you are in the waiting period for your Navy news. While you are waiting have you been looking at the majors offered by USMA, USAFA, and USNA? And at the different career opportunities at each?

Congrats on your two appointments! :thumb:

haha. yeah i know the avatar is misleading. i'm a little put out by the thought of being accepted to the other two but not the naval academy since i've been to the naval academy at least four times to visit and i'm obsessed. i have looked at career opportunities and definetely lean towards the naval academy b/c of the engineering. so now the waiting begins.

Chance of Being Offered an Appointment

What are my chances of getting into the Naval Academy right now?

70% of those qualified in all respects, who have one or more nominations, are offered appointments.

Keep the faith.

Hmmmm

On the "Who will be There" thread on the USMA side there is a post:

"this is really cool. got my appointment in early dec. i'm from VA and want to do mech. eng./aero. by the way, only got the online stuff (uniform, travel) and the accepted appointment on my candidate page too. nothin' to worry about. WP is going to be amazing and fulfilling in everyway".

Which is it?

Tough questions! I like it; let's call a spade as spade. Can you say, let's collect acceptances...

Congratulations on your appointments, hope you will decline all three of them!

Ha-ha, how is your CAS essay coming along?

I have the appoinments to usma and usna, but usafa is my first choice. do you want to trade navy for air force? :smile:haha jk, i wish. but just my opinion if you have two of the three doesn't that mean the other is likely to accept you.

^^^
If USMA appointed you, it's no wonder that texan101 and ibman377 got in as well. I'm just making an observation here.

alright look.

i understand the whole questioning my intent thing and thats cool even though it is probably none of your business. to set matters straight, when i posted the USMA thread about going there, i was just excited to be accpeted to an academy b/c of how hard it is to do and b/c i thought that i stood little chance of getting in. i would be honored to go to any of them but PREFER navy over the rest. ya'll who still question me can sort it out amongst yourselves and i say that with no disrespect at all. when it all comes down to it, i intend to serve as a military officer no matter what branch for longer than the required 5 years and not do the 5 and flying. i come from a military family so my motives for goign to an academy are much more than paying my way though college or going to a college that will set my future up. no, not at all. service has always been pushed in my family- not the bills or the prestige. thank you to those who answered my questions and i hope that i haven't offended anyone.

Nice response.

I did not mean any disrespect; I hope you get what you are desirous of. I am sure you will make a fine officer and a gentleman regardless of where you end up. My only advice would be to decide on which one is #2 and let loose of #3 so someone else can get it sooner than later. Then pray for#1! You know-you might not be getting it in your time frame because someone else is holding on to it waiting for their #1 to come through...
I guess that is OK, as long as it is narrowed down to a #1 and #2 by now (in my opinion). I really can't relate to someone having 4(or even 3) different appointments for any length of time (or even applying to more than 3 really-that's just me, though). I know some just want to serve, and that is fantastic:thumb:, but USMA and USCGA seem pretty diff in all aspects, or USMMA and USAFA?- I say narrow it down, and don't throw darts.
I am glad you posted your response and hope you get USNA if that is #1.
ANCHORS AWEIGH:smile: GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY!
