Just wanted to check to see if anyone has experience on how long it took the Academy to cash the $2000 deposit check and set up the Cadet Account. Followed the instructions about not sending the check certified mail but the check has not been cashed by the Treasurer after 1 week. Anyone know a normal length of time before the check was cashed by West Point.

Thanks in advance all...

I never read anything about not sending it certified mail, can you go over that? I'm about to send mine in

Page 6 of the Instructions for Applicant Offered Admission reads:

"The deposit required for the Class of 2014 is $2,000. Candidates selected for
attendance at West Point should send the deposit prior to 25 June 2010....

... Checks, drafts, or money orders for the initial deposit are made payable to the

“Treasurer, USMA” and sent to:
Treasurer, USMA
Offi cial Mail & Distribution Center
646 Swift Road
West Point, NY 10996-1905

Clearly annotate the candidate’s full name, social security number, and address on the face of the check. The initial deposit does not have to be sent certified or registered mail. Your canceled check will serve as your receipt.

If I remember correctly...............my check did not clear until after R day. I think they wait until after that to make sure they show up and pass the medical exam.

thank you very much, see you in a few months!

Timeline looks to be 10 days. Check was cashed by West Point this week.

Does the $2000 have to be submitted all at once or can you deposit into the account as long as you have the full amount in by the due date (6/25)?

Thanks.

Our $2,000 check was mailed from California on 5 APR, deposited by USMA on 9 APR and cleared our bank on 13 APR. Total time was 8 days from mailing to presentment. The Treasurer uses PFCU so if you use the same bank, you can anticipate that it will clear within 1 day of deposit, rather than the several days that it took for our check to clear.

SOO, that is our experience. USMA not hold the check, and cashed it right after receipt.

Hope that this helps.
