My DS will be a Senior this Fall. I was wondering how the Ringe Dance worked, Do the Mids stay overnight in a hotel in New York City? And this might sound incredibly naive as well, but where do their dates stay? Does the Academy have a bus that drives them into the City?

Depends on where the ball is located and what the particular midshipman wants to do.
Most will get a hotel for the night, and their dates will stay with them. The Academy has not in the past provided any transportation. All is paid for by the midshipman.

nmlcfp...the ring dance will be at the Gotham again this year. Your son should have received information in the mail. $200 per person.
Word of advice, let your midshipman book his own hotel and make arrangements. For ring dance last August a bunch of Midshipmen got together and booked rooms at the Hotel 30/30 for them and a group of rooms for their dates, the girls all shared rooms and the mids shared rooms and they split the cost between the Mids. They rented a limo to take them from KP to the hotel and did it up right. He should have plenty of money to pay for ring dance after 2nd sea term, which is what most of the Mids do.
