Congressman Oberstar

Hey everyone,

This morning my dad told me about an event sponsored by Congressman Oberstar (MN, 8th district) who had given me a principal USNA Nom. We had just noticed that the nomination had been posted on the USNA app status page, so we decided to attend the event. After the Congressman's speech, I got in "line" to speak to him. As soon as he was done speaking with the person before me, he turned to me and said "Congratulations, Christian (My real name)!" I responded that I was just taking the opportunity to thank him personally for the nomination, but I had yet to get confirmation from USNA. He quickly explained that this afternoon USNA had called his office to say that they are offering me an appointment! What a shock!

I'm in the same boat, so to speak, as harmi. No LOA (I'm a home schooler, so my BGO said they wanted to see the grades from my two college classes in the fall semester before making a decision. Thankfully I aced both classes!) I have received two nominations but am awaiting, and praying for, that blue folder...

Anyone here attend session 1 of the 2009 NASS? It would be cool to touch base if you did. Also, I see some familiar names from the "My Chances" website on here!

Yes, the MOC is notified as a courtesy first. The MOC may choose to notify the candidate by phone or mail or not at all. About a week or so after the MOC is notified, the SA sends out the notice to the candidate.

Just got home and there was a message from the Congressmen (NY 20th) who gave my son his nomination (12/20) saying he had good news for him!:biggrin: Now my son is playing phone tag with the MOC. Hope to have confirmation of appointment soon!

Son received letter today from our senator congratulating him on his appointment. Waiting for the blue folder now. What a relief!!!

Principal Nomination from congressman 12/3, Nomination from senator 2/1, Appointment congrats on 2/5.
