Colin really enjoyed the Naval Academy Summer Seminar, but his heart has been set on the USAFA because his older brother Chris will be a 2 deg at the USAFA next year, and Colin wants to be there with Chris. Still, had Colin not received an appointment to the USAFA, he would have happily accepted an appointment to the Naval Academy. Because we are also from UT, you and Colin will surely get to know each other. The Utah USAFA Parents Club will hold a meeting for all new cadets and their parents in May, probably at Hill Air Force Base. We'll see you and your parents there if you come.
 
can anyone who has received an appointment for 2015 tell me what the time line is for mailings after my status has changed online to "Application Complete". will they be sending the offer of appointment soon? will i be getting the BFE anytime soon?

Once your status changes to "Appointment Offered," you get the BFE in 2 - 3 weeks.
 
The BFE seemed like it took FOREVER to come! AVT is right, about 2-3 weeks. I thought it was a week but that surely passed.
 
If we have returned out BFE's (The ones that got them) what should we be expecting next? Anything soon?
 
Still waiting on that appointment. I have had the letter of assurance and two nominations for about a month... could be any time now.

I'll try to remember to post here when I get that BFE or my status on the online application changes. Hope it's soon!

Out of curiosity, how long did it take for you guys to get the "Appointment Offered" status on the portal? I know I'm being impatient, but it'd be comforting and a relief to see it on my portal. =)

Congressional nomination: 11/10
Appointment offered: 12/11

I received two additional senator noms, but I was accepted before they even showed up.
I never got a LOA, but there were only 5 other people on my congressman's slate.
My appointment letter was dated 12/08.
 
I would say about 2 or 3 weeks after I finished my application I got an "appointment offered" but at the same time I had a presidential nomination so I don't know if it is different for a regular nomination or not. Hope this helps, Drew.
 
Thanks for the replies. Looks like I still have at least two weeks to go before I should start worrying. Time to wait :eek3:

Just checked my son's status and it has also been updated to "Appointment Offered".

Just checked the mail and there is a big envelope from the Air Force Academy Admissions Office with "INSTRUCTIONS TO APPOINTEES ENCLOSED" printed on the front. While I dare not open it before my son gets home, I am anticipating good news!:thumb:

Excellent! Congrats to the parents and family too. It's well earned.

My son's USAFA status hasn't changed in the 3 weeks or so since it showed he recieved a principal nomination. Apparently that's not unusual and I don't know how long is usual but like everyone else says, we'd sure feel better when we are in your shoes now!

The BFE is coming! Both our son's seem to be getting updates about the same time so I think your BFE is in the mail but just slightly behind in delivery. Tomorrow!! :thumb:

About how long after the USAFA website showed you had a nom did it take to update to say you were getting an appointment? After it showed appointment, how long did it take before you finally got the BFE?
