2015 USNA Appointments

SC appointments

I know that this list represents only a small sample of USNA appointees; however, I do not see a single South Carolina appointee at this time. Am I overlooking someone?

Momma.....

I was thinking the very same thing for the state of Alabama. Son't see anyone from there. So I am hoping that is a good sign. Maybe we both will see something this week.

Well I am glad that they are still going out. Have not seen much action on this thread the last week. Still keeping our fingers crossed here in Alabama.

Congrats to all so far. Hopefully plenty more to come!

My guess is that the Class of 2015 is going to be relatively small compared to recent classes. The attrition rate has been at an historic low for the past several years yet the incoming classes have remained the same. Consequently, they have too many midshipmen in Bancroft Hall. I think, last I heard, it was something around 4,600. Too many!

I'm guessing the Class of 2015 will be below 1200.

My sons have told me that they are kicking them out like crazy since the new Superintendent & Commandant took over.

Under the previous administration, it seemed that the midshipmen were getting plenty of "Get Out Of Jail" FREE cards. Under this administration it seems to be, "Strike ONE! You're out!"

What kind of things can get you kicked out of the academy besides breaking the rules? I know at the AFA at certain GPA has to be maintained.

Yes, "breaking the rules" can certainly get you kicked out - depending on the severity of the infraction. It's not like they're kicking them out for failing to tuck in their shirt, however.

There are honor infractions, conduct infractions, academic problems, failure to meet physical fitness standards, and military aptitude shortcomings. In recent history, midshipmen have been shown great leniency in all of these areas - given the chance to improve. Lots of second and third chances. This rampant leniency was been made public when the academy was forced to open their records due to inquiries from interested parties (mostly alumni). It has been widely criticized.

It seems the pendulum has swung in the other direction.

I'm wondering how much of the current policy is driven by a new philosophy, an overreaction to criticism of the past administration, or the fact that Bancroft Hall is a bit overcrowded - maybe a combination of all three.

I am about to poop myself every day when I get home from school. Its march 27 and I have heard nothing from either usna or usafa. Everything's complete. Do apointee letters go out before deferrence letters? This idea worries me.
