2019 Permit to Report (PTR) Packages?

Package arrive today. Weighs a ton! I am guessing there are about 1000 forms to complete, will know more when DD gets home from school. I am thinking she is going to want an extra pair of hands to help with completion;)

Thanks for posting! Did it fit in your mailbox?

It did yes. Our mail person brought it to the door though, as she remembers our stalking in January for BFE lol! It is actually a bit thicker than the BFE.

It is a ton of paperwork! Just remember to make copies of EVERYTHING before you send it in and keep it all in a folder (we just kept it in the same brown envelope it came it). Bring those copies with you to I-day and have them where you can access them easily and quickly after you drop your mid off for in-processing. Many parents (not us thankfully) received frantic calls from their mids that certain documents were missing when they in-processed.

Also, your mid will have to enter all the security data they previously filled out in hard copy, into the computer sometime during Plebe year. The Academy should provide them with the form they filled out, but its good to have the copy on hand in case your mid has questions when inputting the information.

PTR package just arrived (South Florida). I did not see anything regarding Company assignment, just a report time.

@DS2017DD2019 - For class of 2018, we got a letter from USNA about 1 week before I-Day with Plebe Summer Company and Platoon. If you recall, PS Company is a letter (A through P or Alpha through Pappa with no "J") and Platoon is a number 1 through 30 and corresponds to the Company that the Plebe will move into for the academic year.

PTR packet arrived today as well in NJ! but DS had found out on the portal (thanks to the person posting that information!!) that it had been mailed - so we were stalking here.

Besides copying the filled out forms, you should also scan them. I scanned and emailed them to both my work and personal email address then saved those emails. I was prepared when my DS called recently because the Navy medical staff couldn't locate his immunization records for some reason. Even though I was at work I was able to email it to him within a minute. Kept him from having to get an unnecessary vaccine. Keep those forms handy for the entire 4 years as they made need them again for block activities, etc. There is also a software called Evernote that is useful for this too.

I was wondering this also. DS is at college and was asking what company he was in. I don't see that. Nor do I see a mailing address for him. Does that come later or does he get it on I day? Good news is we got 7 am....not 6am. Yay.

Repeating my post from above in case it was missed -

For class of 2018, we got a letter from USNA (addressed to the Parents, not the Appointee) about 1 week before I-Day with Plebe Summer Company and Platoon. If you recall, PS Company is a letter (A through P or Alpha through Pappa with no "J") and Platoon is a number 1 through 30 and corresponds to the Company that the Plebe will move into for the academic year. The appropriate mailing address is also given on that letter.

Thank you JShawshank. I did miss this post. So I guess all we do now is start on the two inch pile of paperwork.

So for those of you who have received the package I have a recommendation. Shout out to my uber-organized wife for this one. She has folders that are categorized as:

Due ASAP (those items that need to be returned in the Manila Envelope),
On-line (ABS, Alumni Association)
Scan and E-Mail (Uniform measurements, travel form)
I-Day/Hand Carry, (All those items on the checklist that need to be hand carried by DD)
Medical (shot records/patient form)
Copies (completed copies of all of the above that Mom and Dad will keep handy for I-Day)

This folder method adds some sanity to a crazy process and keeps things organized and manageable. Plan on knocking out one folder at a time. Hope some of you find this helpful.

The countdown begins. 72 days till I-Day!

PTR received yesterday Southern Illinois. Huge pile of stuff for DGS to complete!

Organizing things like Juvat mentioned is a great idea and will help to get things in on time, the correct medium, and in the event (which I would argue is 50% chance) that USNA misplaces/doesn't receive one or more of the forms. I HIGHLY recommend that the parents should let your DS/DD do the work (and I don't mean filling out the form all by themselves, because there certainly are pieces of data or scheduling activities [i.e. vaccinations at doctor's office] they will need help from the parents -- but DS/DD should come to the parents, not the other way around). From this point forward, it is going to be up to them...they will not have mom/dad beside them at USNA helping them through every issues or "mission" that comes up. Hopefully most appointees are capable of doing this, but now is a good time to make sure they can accomplish a big, but relatively simple administrative task of getting all the information to the right place and on time.
