2020 Appointments

He is very blessed. He has some thinking and praying to do.
I told him I would take him to visit the one that he thinks is his top choice.
I probably can't afford more than one trip. They are all a long way from rural Texas
Congrats!!!! USAFA is reachable with a long drive from TX. And the two in the East Coast could be visited in one trip, although requires some planning and coordinating. The bottom line is that there really is not a wrong choice for him.

WP and USNA are within driving distance. We drove from WP to Annapolis in about 5-6 hours this summer. Fly in and rent a car maybe?

Have a fantastic dinner! What a celebration!

Hello, wanted to say thank you for always answering my questions:) this forum has helped me tremendously. DS received appointment last week to both USNA & USMA & 4 yrs NROTC scholarship. He is waiting on few more schools to make final decision, but prob will pick USNA. We are proud of him and very thankful to all his wonderful teachers who have taught him from preschool-12th grade!

Are these recent appointments that just came out the "first wave" or is that still to come in feb-mar?

You will see large batches of appointments between now and March. The waves aren't necessarily as defined as West Point's are, but if you look at the last few years of appointee threads you will see plenty of appointments between now and March rolling out pretty consistently. They tend to dwindle in April and NAPS and Foundation appointees usually find out April-May.

Congratulations to all who have received their appointments and here's to keeping great positive thoughts for those that are still waiting. Not sure if now is a good time since there are only a few appointments coming in but for those that are on the board, maybe an actual appointment thread would be helpful to others. Again, not sure if now is the time.

I will start one. See how it goes!

Just out of curiosity, what seems to be the spread of LOA based appointments vs regular offers at this point in time? I was more specifically wondering if they group them together in batches or if they individually send them out on different occasions.

Congrats !!! :)

Our son received his Appointment to USNA last week in the form of an e-mail and we have been checking the mail every day for the BFE. Today we arrived home and saw an envelope on the front porch and it was an Appointment from West Point! Wow!

Cannot believe how blessed he is. That is an appointment to USNA, USMA and an appointment and offer to play football and/or basketball at the USMMA. He has been offered a football tryout at USMA if he accepts appointment and we need to re-touch base with Navy for a football walk-on tryout, if that is still what he wanted to do.

Incredible. I believe he is 98% ready to choose for NAVY.

Just to double check, DS received NROTC to his 1st choice school. Deadline to accept is Feb 14. So there is nothing wrong or no penalty to accept scholarship & not attend and accept USNA instead? When do we tell NROTC he will not attend...after USNA first day?? Confused to proper process? Heard forum telling me to secure plan B just in case? Thx u

Congrats... my son just received the NROTC 4 yr notice as well. Yes, just accept it now and then wait and see if he gets the USNA appointment. We are in the same boat :) There is no commitment to accepting the NROTC and you can cancel as late as the day before Fall semester starts. Since USNA will be first (around July 1), you can cancel at that time. BTW did he get accepted at his 1st choice school? Which one? My brother is the CO for the NROTC at Georgia Tech.

Thx you for info, yes he already got into USNA but not yet accepted to his NROTC school UCBERKLEY? Think most civilian colleges come out in March? Okay will go ahead and accept the scholarship:)
